Stone Sour Through Glass Lyrics

Last updated: 02/28/2014 08:16:25 PM

I'm looking at you through the glass
Don't know how much time has passed
Oh, god it feels like forever
But no one ever tells you that forever
Feels like home sitting all alone inside your head

Cause I'm looking at you through the glass
Don't know how much time has passed
All I know is that it feels like forever
But no one ever tells you that forever feels like home
Sitting all alone inside your head

How do you feel? That is the question
But I forget, you don't expect an easy answer
When something like a soul becomes initialized
And folded up like paper dolls and little notes
You can't expect a bit of hope
So while you're outside looking in
Describing what you see
Remember what you're staring at is me

Cause I'm looking at you through the glass
Don't know how much time has passed
All I know is that it feels like forever
When no one ever tells you that forever feels like home
Sitting all alone inside your head

How much is real? So much to question
An epidemic of the mannequins
Contaminating everything
When thought came from the heart
It never did right from the start
Just listen to the noises
(Null and void instead of voices)
Before you tell yourself
It's just a different scene
Remember it's just different from what you've seen

I'm looking at you through the glass
Don't know how much time has passed
And all I know is that it feels like forever
When no one ever tells you that forever feels like home
Sitting all alone inside your head

Cause I'm looking at you through the glass
Don't know how much time has passed
All I know is that it feels like forever
But no one ever tells you that forever feels like home
Sitting all alone inside your head

And it's the stars
The stars
That shine for you
And it's the stars
The stars
That lie to you, yeah-ah

And it's the stars
The stars
That shine for you
And it's the stars
The stars
That lie to you, yeah-ah

I'm looking at you through the glass
Don't know how much time has passed
Oh, god it feels like forever
But no one ever tells you that forever feels like home
Sitting all alone inside your head

Cause I'm looking at you through the glass
Don't know how much time has passed
All I know is that it feels like forever
But no one ever tells you that forever feels like home
Sitting all alone inside your head

And it's the stars
The stars
That shine for you
And it's the stars
The stars
That lie to you, yeah-ah

And it's the stars
The stars
That shine for you
And it's the stars
The stars
That lie to you, yeah yeah

Oh when the stars
Oh when the stars that lie!

At the right moment! | Reviewer: Tonya | 3/1/14

This song 1st played (I heard for 1st time) right after I was sentenced to a 6 year prison term. My soul mate, true love, best friend Ive ever known & kindest man I am so lucky to have in my life for past 7 years, then was leaving the courtroom with tears in his eyes as I watched from the transport bus in handcuffs wondering when I would be able to be in his arms again. Through The Glass came over local radio station & hit me like a ton of bricks! Describes how painful it was going to be looking at him through the glass for the next 6 yrs! Still, even after Im home now (good behavior) when I hear this song I think how lucky I am to NOT be looking "Through The Glass" at my now husband of 14 years & ALWAYS burst into tears! Perfect, timing couldnt have been better song for that time of our lives, thank you Stone Sour, thank you!!

Through Glass. prison?? | Reviewer: Samantha | 10/15/10

It seems to me that this song is about a man in prison and his gf fiance baby momma comes to visit and they can only speak to & see eachother through the glass window. Its sad and I can totaly relate.

Through the glass 2 | Reviewer: casey | 8/17/10

this song i think is about how the artist views the passing of time . And how he questions his life and what has happened . I think that he sees him self viewing outhers from the outside in and he wishes he could be on the other side of the glass .

Better ones | Reviewer: Gustavo | 3/17/10

I think this song is above average.

Trivium, Slipknot, Stone Sour, Bullet For My Valentine are all good.

But on top of them goes Death by Stereo with bet against me you lose. the best one.

The song was originally inspired by Corey Taylor's outrage at the music industry and how he felt that the musical revolution had never taken place.

Taylor was quoted as having said:

"I remember exactly where I was. It was 2004 and I was on tour with Slipknot. I was sitting in a European hotel room watching a music video channel, seeing act after act after act of this insane, innocuous, plastic music. They were plastic, bubbly, gossamer-thin groups where it was really more about the clothes they wore and the length of their cheekbones than it was about the content of the song they were singing.

It really made me mad. I was like, is this it? Have we just gone full circle? Did the singer/songwriter revolution never happen? Is it just the same drivel from the same replicate over and over again? 'Through Glass' is really a very angry song. It's me basically calling 'bullshit' on pretty much everyone involved with the 'American Idol'-type shows.

It has its place, but when you're basically cornering the market and making it very hard for anyone who actually writes their own music to get ahead, then it's wrong and that's really why I wrote this song."

In the music video, takes place in the most plastic of scenarios: the cliché, vacant, Hollywoodesque party where we're seeing all these plastic people. We're seeing celebrity culture and consumer culture magnified in a way that distracts people from thinking about what they should be thinking about.

As the video progresses, the people at the party abruptly become cardboard cutouts and are carried away. Eventually the whole building where the party was being held becomes a cutout as well and is removed. The band members are shown in the party and they eventually head outside and begin playing in front of what appears to be the Hollywood sign (which actually reads "Hollowood", a point made at the hollowness of the current music business). This also is revealed to be a cardboard cutout at the very end of the video.

Not about one thing | Reviewer: Aaron | 8/11/09

Artists don't want their art to have only one meaning. They want everybody to openly interpret it based upon their lives. Everybody likes the song because it relates to something of theirs. They may have made it to prove a point to "fake celebs" and all, but you can interpret it any way you like.

Great Songs = Great Bands! | Reviewer: Tarryn! | 11/26/08

This is the first stone sour song I ever heard. and I loved it immediatly! thats what has happened with me several times! because I know ive found a great band when I hear a great song,Some of my favourite bands caught me like this Example:
Trivium: Anthem (we are the fire) it got me into metal!
Bullet For My Valentine: Scream Aim Fire (First Song I heard from them. I luv it!
Slipknot: Psychosocial (again first one I heard, and I'm listening to it now!)
Stone Sour: Through the Glass (I only heard it yesterday, but im Hooked!)

song about how celebs are so fake | Reviewer: Alan | 3/17/08

my interpretation was about how fake celebrities are. In the music video all people who look like big time celebrities were all socializing in a huge house and they were at some party. Well later on in the song the celbrities turned out to be paper cutouts, and not real as they look as did the whole building. The message they were giving us is celebrities and their lifestyles are fake.

Its not about love | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/20/07

this song is not about love or any of that. corey is singing about all the bad music in the world like rap. hes saying that all the small bands look through the glass (TV) and see all these shitty bands keeping him down.
