This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody) Lyrics - Talking Heads
Review The Song (26)
Home is where I want to be
Pick me up and turn me round
I feel numb - born with a weak heart
I guess we must be having fun
The less we say about it the better
We'll make it up as we go along
Feet on the ground
Head in the sky
It's alright I know nothing's wrong . . nothing
Heyyah I got plenty of time
Heyyah you got light in your eyes
And you're standing here beside me
I love the passage of time
Never for money
Always for love
Cover up and say goodnight . . . say goodnight
Home - is where I want to be
But I guess I'm already there
I come home she lifted up her wings
I Guess that this must be the place
I can't tell one from the other
Did I find you, or you find me?
There was a time Before we were born
If someone asks, this is where I'll be . . . where I'll be
Heyyah We drift in and out
Heyyah sing into my mouth
Out of all those kinds of people
You got a face with a view
I'm just an animal looking for a home
Share the same space for a minute or two
And you love me till my heart stops
Love me till I'm dead
Eyes light up, I see through you
Cover up your blank spots
Hit me on the head

Just randomly came across this track listening to Spotify. Faintly recall it from my Highschool days. What a treasure find! Beautiful dance track & meaningful lyrics = perfect song for all mankind. Home is where I'm at when listening to this track!
Finding harmony in a new family and future | Reviewer: Robert 78 | 7/18/12
This song is always been a favorite. I especially grew fond of it when I was going through a rough divorce fighting for my only son. When we were at home together during this time we would listen to it and it said everything about the love me and him share as a father and son.
Now I have met a new love and am engaged to be married and this is the song my son his new step mother will dance to all together. Perfect for lyrics for such the feeling I have . We have a new life with love and hope . A new family..
Most Eloquent Love Song | Reviewer: JP | 7/8/12
It is quite simply the best pure love song recorded. A love song that only uses the word "love" one time,(and is probably only in the song as a just-because) is brilliant in of itself. The vibe and the lyrics are a perfect combination of feeling and explantion of what the harmony between two people that 'fully accept each other' (the best definition of love I have heard) is really all about.
what music used to be | Reviewer: jjcomet | 7/4/11
What an amazing song from a group - and an era - that produced so much eye-opening and truly revolutionary and creative music. The spirit that animates this song has been almost totally crushed y the corporate music industry. What we get now is cookie-cutter copies of the latest bubble gum wonder, and shows like "American Idol" that glorify conformity and mimicking the status quo rather than talking a chance, stepping outside the box, and offering music that really speaks to, and touches, people. Screw Simon Cowell and the horse he rode in on...
words cant describe but i will try | Reviewer: casey j | 5/14/11
This song has made me laugh, cry, smile, mope, dance, and even put me to sleep. The collective energy of the group makes this live version capable of breaking through the most staunch exterior, making anyone who truly listens have an introspective moment whether they are ready for it or not. It may make you laugh, or make you cry, but most of all it will remind you that your ALIVE. This song is truly one of the things that I cite when considering the reasons to continue living in an otherwise (mostly) disappointing world.
The Real Deal | Reviewer: email@example.com | 2/25/11
For me, its about finally finding yourself where you've always wanted to be. Realizing the the relationship your currently in is the one you've always dreamed of. And that a lack of drama is not a sign of a dull relationship but a healthy one.
The almost sublime comfort two people can quietly experience sharing there lives together. It also address the human tendency to make up imaginary problems when really nothings wrong, nothing.

This song is absolutely amazing. It makes me feel so much joy when I hear it. I love dancing and singing to it. One of my favorites without a doubt. Lol... I listen to it over and over again for hours some times.

Best Recessional Ever! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/2/10
My wife and I played this song as the recessional to our wedding 15 years ago. As the pastor proclaimed us husband and wife, we turned to face the congregation and walked down the aisle arm-in-arm. It still seems like the perfect end to a perfect wedding...
This is the place... | Reviewer: EK | 6/9/09
My Granfather just passed away and at age 80 he enjoyed listening to Talking Heads - I was able to take him to see David Byrne live this year in Spokane. After leaving the hospital this trak was playing and it said everything I needed to hear. This exemplifies the love I had for him and the love he shared with his family. Thank you David for easing the pain!
Quintessential Love Song | Reviewer: Robert A. Sears | 5/22/08
A lovely, happy piece of music. This song always makes me smile, or cry, and puts a spring in my step. It reminds me so much of my beloved wife, Kari; hers is the kind of love that this song epitomises so well. This song speaks to my soul. I play bass guitar, and I love the synth bass riff that pins this song together. It's got a great groove. I was unaware that other musicians had covered it; I will definitely give them a listen. I am glad I checked out this review page.
play this at my memorial! | Reviewer: john langdon | 1/26/08
not that i'm gonna die anytime soon, but this song says so much with so little, it works for me both as a romantic love song and speaks about my relationship with the world, makes my cry most every time i here it!
thx for the heads-up on the covers, i'd heard s. colvin's, i'll check out others
Beautiful | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/2/08
I have always enjoyed this song very much, even when other bands play it, but it wasn't until very recently that my girlfriend sent me the lyrics and I actually put things together and realized how perfectly this song sums up the feeling of love that we share. Amazing.
best version | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/31/07
I think my favorite version of this is the cover by String Cheese Incident from 06/27/02- Little Rock, AR (the entire show is worth downloading)-- this version is absolutely amazing -- hands down my favorite.
I am a huge fan of PGroove, but their version isn't as good as this one.
arcade fire cover | Reviewer: Genny | 1/1/08
just wanted to add that the arcade fire also has a nice cover of this song..but I indeed love the 80s original the best :)
