John Flansburgh(born: 5/6/60) and John Linnell(born:
6/12/59) grew up in Lincoln, MA. Linnell was actually born
in New York and moved to Lincoln early in life. They met in
Junior High School when they both worked on the school
newspaper. Linnell was an editor of "the only high school
newspaper without a sports section" and he became friends
with Flansburgh through their work on the paper. They each
went their separate way for a while after high school.
Flansburgh went to art school in NY for a year, but
eventually left to pursue music. Linnell spent some time
around the Providence, RI area playing with a group called
the Mundanes. The Mundanes were fairly successful locally
and released a 7" album.

Your version neither matches the rhythm of the song nor the meter of the rhyme. Oh, and it doesn't make sense.

Then I heard it's parody on songstowearpantsto.com and I was like 'where have I heard this before?'
so I searched the web and re-discovered it on homestarrunner. It is now one of my favorite songs.

Are you guys serious? It makes me sad that homestar runner used this song. i love TMBG, but was never a big HSR fan. I do love acronyms though.
A lot of my friends here at NYU are film students, i'm forcing them to listen to it so maybe they won't show me they're dumb film projects anymore.

I bought this album the first time I heard "Don't Lets Start" on MTV. It was unlike anything I ever heard.. fun, catchy, funny. That's what is so great about this band.. they are unique and don't sound like a lot of radio trash. My favorite band... have all of their albums. :)

my science teacher played 2 versions of this song for my class. one was live which everyone loved. and then there was the regular version which everybody hated. either way i thought it was very strange. and i've heard other songs buy they might be giants such as don't leat's start, birdhouse in your soul, instuble not constible or somthin ,and take out the trash. weird weird weird.
This would go great as a documentary about the sun for a school project!

Dude. I LOVE that song. My friend showed me Homestar Runner (and she regrets it) and I was randomly looking at all of the cartoons, and I found Experimental Film. Then I went and looked for other They Might Be Giants songs and became addicted. Ya.
