Theatre Of Tragedy Lyrics

There's no need to introduce Theatre of Tragedy. There's
hardly any band that led the aesthetics of the so-called
"Gothic Metal/Rock" to such a plain perfection as this band
did.

Many bands tried walking in their footsteps over the
years...

Already in '95, their first, self-titled album was
considered as a stepping-stone in Gothic Metal and Theatre
of Tragedy rapidly lived up to the meaning of "Overnight
Sensation".

You could even say that Theatre of Tragedy were the
inventors of the extreme contrast between the well known
male More...

This song is beautiful, with the standard knowledge of modern english a lot of words can be understood! Poor english? Whoever thinks this is poor english has poor knowledge of english language and its history! Anyways, this is a great band and a great song, I love it!

------ About the song ...A Distance There Is... performed by Theatre Of Tragedy

This is one of my favorite song of this band, the members are very talented and Liv's voice is bewitching, at some point of my life I learned English Literature and i'm quite sure it's middle English rather than Old English and if the song was written in Old English, no one would have understood the lyrics.

you said :

I d say your english is very poor too and being a non -english native isn't an excuse cause i m french ...
Then for your information ...This singer is using mid Shakespearian old english vocabulary
So i m sorry but you are a poor person, go and open some books before making such expeditive and stupid judgement

and BTW> your english is very poor check out for your english grammar before doing such critics

Such a beautiful song | Reviewer: anonymous
------ About the song ...A Distance There Is... performed by Theatre Of Tragedy

So besides the wonderful piano part, I think I understand this song. I think it's about abuse of like a previous boyfriend or husband. Domestic Violence and stuff and how she escaped from it. I've been listening to this song again and again. It's so beautiful not just because of the old english. I like the old english. It's not something most bands would do. I think the title has to do with more emotional distance than physical. It has to do how she lost her love for him when he hurt her. Smite means strike and dint means force. That's how it made it clear to what this song is about. Either way, it's beautiful.

Love this song! | Reviewer: Rapplescallion
------ About the song Cassandra performed by Theatre Of Tragedy

I think it's sad that more people don't know about Theatre of Tragedy. Their slow, yet powerful melodies are so transfixing. Cassandra is so measured and calm, yet the lyrics reveal a much different story. Great music for doing homework, drawing or writing to.

Trance enhancing | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Venus performed by Theatre Of Tragedy

A great and melodic piece. Liv Christine's vocal range is powerful--enhanced by the heavy riffs. A great song that evicts a trance like state on listeners. The guitar progression is top of the line. Overall Great!

Haunting | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Venus performed by Theatre Of Tragedy

This is actually a very beautiful song, which is strange to find in a genre ruled by razorblade voices and heavy guitars. It's melodic, dark, and entrancing. I've watched peoples' faces during the first time they hear this song and watched their eyes go someplace else. If you've never heard anything like it before, it'll root you in place. It's that rare kind of song that will appeal to people across many types of music. I think it's the strongest of their songs across all albums, which includes their newest. If you're looking for melodic, haunting vocals with enough edge to satisfy a craving for hard metal, this song will get you done.

The words "emotional" and "anyway" are two very twenty-first century words that jarringly interpose themselves into the song, derailing the temporal mood.
