The final cut Lyrics - Pink Floyd
Review The Song (5)
Through the fish-eyed lens of tear stained eyes
I can barely define the shape of this moment in time
And far from flying high in clear blue skies
I'm spiraling down to the hole in the ground where I hide.
If you negotiate the minefield in the drive
And beat the dogs and cheat the cold electronic eyes
And if you make it past the shotguns in the hall,
Dial the combination, open the priesthole
And if I'm in I'll tell you what's behind the wall.
There's a kid who had a big hallucination
Making love to girls in magazines.
He wonders if you're sleeping with your new found faith.
Could anybody love him
Or is it just a crazy dream?
And if I show you my dark side
Will you still hold me tonight?
And if I open my heart to you
And show you my weak side
What would you do?
Would you sell your story to Rolling Stone?
Would you take the children away
And leave me alone?
And smile in reassurance
As you whisper down the phone?
Would you send me packing?
Or would you take me home?
Thought I oughta bare my naked feelings,
Thought I oughta tear the curtain down.
I held the blade in trembling hands
Prepared to make it but just then the phone rang
I never had the nerve to make the final cut.

THE FINAL CUT | Reviewer: Fernando - Brasil | 5/7/11
Great song. I really dont' knwon why Roger Waters or even Pink Floyd ever performed this live. It would be a great moment of the rock. The time pass and now there is no chance to make real the final cut.
the heart & soul of a genius.. | Reviewer: jennifer gentle | 12/22/08
This song is incredibly powerful. In fact, the whole album is powerful. The lyrics that Roger presented on 'The Final Cut' is astonishing and completely profound. He truly put his heart and soul into this album, most importantly, this song. And for those who disregard it, just keep your thoughts to yourself and let others enjoy the piece as they would like..

Meaningful | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/7/08
This song has a lyrical power that is almost unparallelled. The emotion and meaning it holds for Waters is obvious, and can be just as meaningful to others. He may have been egotistical, but he certainly knew what he was talking about. If you're a dog according to "Animals", you will enjoy this song.
Great Pink Floyd Album! | Reviewer: Chris A. | 3/2/05
A great Pink Floyd album like no other, other people don't like it (IT'S NOT ALL LEFT OVER MATERIAL OF THE WALL! IT'S THE SOUNDTRACK TO THE WALL MOVIE). I know Waters took too much control (almost a solo album) on this one, the others should've had more an input. I'm not a Rogerholic! Anyway, the musical orchestration shines throughout, Roger Water's lyrics are standout. Gilmour solos/licks are limited but great as always. If you like mainly pre-DOTM Floyd and "trippier" floyd, you probably won't like this, because of the soundtrack piano feel to this album. Standout tracks are "Not Now John" which is the only all-out rocker here, singer's dirty mouths and all. "Two Suns in the Sunset" nice acoustic/piano number w/sax solo and an eerie Cold War message, and "The Final Cut" you have to hear the lyrics for yourself, wow... "Your Possible Past", "Fletcher Memorial Home", "Hero's Return" all great songs too(I really like them all :) GIVE THIS ALBUM A CHANCE! Listen to the "The Pro and Cons of Hitchhiking" (Waters solo) afterwards.
