The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song Lyrics - The Flaming Lips

Review The Song (24)

Yeah yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah [x9]
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh........ (from the third yeah yeah yeah to the eighth)

If you could blow up the world
With the flick of a switch
Would you do it?
(Yeah yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah)
If you could make everybody poor
Just so you could be rich
Would you do it?
(Yeah yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah)

If you could watch everybody work
While you just lay on your back
Would you do it?
(Yeah yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah)
If you could take all the love
Without giving any back
Would you do it?
(Yeah yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah)

And so we cannot know ourselves
Or what we'd really do

With all your power
With all your power
With all your power
What would you do?

With all your power
With all your power
With all your power
What would you do?

(No no no no, no no no no)

If you could make your own money
And then give it to the poor
Would you do it?
(No no no no, no no no no)
If you knew all the answers
And could give to the masses
Would you do it?
(No no no no, no no no no)

Are you crazy?
It's a very dangerous thing to do
Exactly what you want
Because you cannot know yourself,
Or what you'd really do

With all your power
With all your power
With all your power
What would you
Do do do do, do do do do [x2]
(Yeah yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah) [x10]
ahhhhhhhhhh...... (from third yeah yeah line to the last one)

With all your power
With all your power
With all your power
What would you do?

With all your power
With all your power
With all your power
What would you do?

With all your power
With all your power
With all your power
What would you do?

wah wah wah wah wah wah wah wah [x1.75]

Jessica just trolled you all. Sorry.
You don't just specifically mention the fact that your 14 years old and going to be a writer, along with some fake email in a hate/flame review.

DOES IT HAVE TO BE ANY CLEARER? She was obviously trolling, that unfortunate hobby that is taking over the internet, and was asking for attention and for poor teenagers to be attacked and insulted. So before you call fourteen year olds 'cunts', or talk about how terrible their taste in music is, just remember the person who started it is probably some thirty year old no-life sitting behind a computer all day, and there are exceptions to stereotypes.
Not all old people are grumpy with no memory.
Not all adults are dull and un-creative.
Not all teenagers have bad taste and obsessed with all that Pop stuff.
Not all kids are whiny idiots.

So just remember, before you call fourteen year olds 'cunts', just remember which generation gave that lifestyle to those 'cunts'.

PS: This song is great, so don't hate!

HA! These comments are so funny..i particularly love when people use the word "cunt"

I've met Wayne, Im friends with Dennis...And Wayne is a big kid, and also dating someone close to the age of 14 at its a big waste of time to over analyze. Enjoy the music!!! Wooop!

we're all human | Reviewer: Jack Serna | 1/23/11

I'd like to make a review because i'm most likely going to present this song in class for a project.
I barely found out about The Flaming Lips a few months ago, i'm not one to know every band there is out there. Just like there are good people out there, we won't know every single one of them.

Like what other people have reviewed about this song, it has a childish tone to it and it talks about power. I like how it keeps it so simple and childish, it makes it satirical. we can't be critical and judgmental of other people because if you were in the same position, you would do the same thing. it points out instances of self interest, we all do it we're all human. Its shows that one cannot be so liberal and giving all the time because there are some things you just have to do. We all do bad things because we can, and it leaves you with a cliffhanger that leaves me feeling like there's such a complicated problem in front of me and I need to take care of it carefully.

nice. | Reviewer: ha. | 10/26/10

I'm 14, love the song. Sure, it's weird, but so am I. ;D I can see how it could annoy people, sure, we all have our opinions. I still love it. So let's not go bothering people because they don't like a song.

really? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/28/10

Yall are completely missing the point of the song. It's about people with power and how we don't know what we would really do unless we had that power and where put in the situation.
if you don't like the weird sounds and all, then don't listen to the flaming lips, Cause they are weird, and that's why they are great.

Haha. | Reviewer: Samuel | 7/13/10

I'm 15, and I love how all these kids are arguing about whether or not The Flaming Lips are annoying, and completely miss the point of this song: it's about leaders and officials who abuse their power (people like George Bush, although not him specifically)

@jessica | Reviewer: Michelle | 7/1/10

wtf? The weird noises are the best thing about this song. What are you trying to prove with your fancy words? The only thing your accomplishing is making yourself look like a dumbass with bad taste in music. I'm 14 too and i love everything about the lips ESPECIALLY their obscure noises . Go listen to justin bieber or something..and get off this forum before your bad musical tastes rub off on others. HAAPY CANADA DAY(:

Flaming lips kick ass | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/21/10

Jessica, you think that adding big words to your sentence makes your opinion sound more valid, I wonder who is doing freshman vocab work, around this period in time. Don't just add big words willy nilly. I mean do you even know what you are saying when you say "dark side of electronics?" Why don't you go listen to some blues music, Muddy Waters, Howling Wolfe, most blues songs have one or two guitar licks, like hochie coochie man and mannish boy. The flaming lips experiments with sounds. They just released a cover of Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon, and are you actually listening to the message of the song.

Why good bands stay anonymous | Reviewer: Lil' Miss Imperfect | 12/27/09

I'm allmost 14 and I love this song.
This song isn't anoying AT ALL.
If you wanna hear something anoying, go listen to some of that new jazz shit.

95% of my school is hooked up to Disney's newest attempt to take over the world: The Jonas Brothers and Hannah Montana.
(They have no taste of music)

The reason why most teens wouldn't like this band is because of their looks. (They are a bit too old)
I mean look at Rihanna, if she would be flat, she would be living in a box.
If I read some YouTube comments, they don't go about the song, they go about if the band is hot or not.

That is why you never see any decent bands getting an award.

Untill this world realises that looks aren't that important (in music), we'll all be listening to some blonde bitch jumping around half-naked on a stage.

P.S. This song rules

14 year old | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/16/09

I generally disagree with that statement of 200% positivity of 14 year olds not liking this song.
Haha as I am 14 years old and have of the best taste in music.
I despise radio tunes, and purely enjoy underground music over popularity.
The Flaming Lips are an amazing band, and an amazing voice indeed. Its common sense that if you are not into the song or the band whatever the case may be that you stop listening to it, and leave us fans alone.

Well.... | Reviewer: Ash | 8/11/09

I actually took the time to read all comments before even honking about my opinion about someone elses. The flamming lips have been annoying 14 year olds for 2 decades. On that note listening to their early work shows that not only they can continue to create music, but also keep it current with what's on the top 40. Remember Brittany spears "toxic"? Or nine inch nails "(insert hit song here)"? Or how about bla bla bla bla bla bla bla.

Oh and I like this song <-------- even the cyber ducks!

I'm a fan | Reviewer: | 6/27/09

The Yeah Yeah Yeah song is fantastic.

At first glance it's a catchy tune- with the wonderful vocals of Mark Coyne melding into the instrumentals beautifully- which seems rather jolly when approached superficially (nothing wrong with that, why does music need to be profound?).

However, on further listening, with a greater focus on the lyrics, it becomes apparent that Coyne is commenting on humanity's tendency to fulfill self-interest before anything else. Unveiling a dark critique of the human psyche, provoking cynical thoughts in the listener and leading them to contemplate this great flaw, which has plagued mankind since history began. The lyrics bring to mind that old proverb 'Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely'.

The true beauty of this song in my opinion (after all, what's a review but opinion?) lies in the irony. Such a happy-go-lucky song being used to portray a dark aspect of mankind, is a wonderful method, one often utilised by The Flaming Lips.

But it has to be asked - if the song wasn't so superficially happy, if it was as dark sounding as the message it conveys, would anyone read as deeply into this lyrical masterpiece?

Flaming Lips are great | Reviewer: nervous | 11/22/08

look people.. if you think it's annoying, then don't listen to it and stop complaining, it's not a big deal..

i happen to love everything about this song, and the flaming lips music in general.. that's just my taste.. if it's not yours, then go listen to something else..

great | Reviewer: oi oi stevie-boy | 8/30/08

to everybody:

i simply can not believe that several flaming lips fans (which most of the reviewers here are) have a need to try to prove a 14 year old that she's wrong. i am absolutely sure that 200% 14-year-olds would find this song to be anoying. they've got so much music to listen before they get to a state where they could understand the Lips.

on the other hand, i have to say that this song represents the flaming lips in every way. it's a bit catchy, like many flaming's tunes. it's a bit anoying, like some parts of there songs. it has a message like most of their songs.

it's definetly a great song to open the mystics album with.

To the bottom reviewer: | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/17/08

Since when does all music have to sound the same? The Flaming Lips are great and can use whatever they damn like in their songs because they certainly have a knack for churning out some pretty good stuff. I love this song and think the lyrics are spot on.
