When the Vines burst onto the post-grunge celebrity scene
in late 2001, the British press was first in line to claim
them for their very own. The band was quickly compared to
Nirvana while being thrown into the swarm of impacting acts
like the Hives, Haven, and Doves. Still, they weren't just
hype. Craig Nicholls (vocals/guitar), Patrick Matthews
(bass/vocals), and David Oliffe (drums) were a tight-knit
bunch eager to rock.
Founded in their native Sydney, Australia, in the late
'90s, the Vines met in high school while working at a
neighborhood McDonald's. Nicholls sought it fit to name the More...

I think you need to think about that statement. Art can be changed. That's how fellow artists find their own style and voice. I could change every lyric in this song to go with my style or my meaning of this song. It's called improv. Andy Warhol changed the mona lisa to green yellow blue...all to show different perceptions of artwork..

just let you know, it's a beatles song, written by john lennon for their 1966 album revovler, before sgt. pepper's. great version though.
i know craig was influenced by the beatles and nirvana, so their two great bands, and the vines rock! love their new album, mediora.
my favourite songs of theirs are- ride, get free, mary jane, don't listen to the radio and he's a rocker. can't wait to see them in perth on the 20th of october.

I don't get it. Always compare all known stuffs to songs. a bit of this a bit of that a bit of bla bla bla .. who cares ?
Do you talk about paints this way ?
"Oooh i'd have put some blue here instead of yellow - green"
I say, when it's done ... there's nothing you could suggest to the work.
After all ... you like it or you don't.

the start of it is a bit of a rip of the velvet under ground -who loves the sun-
but the song is increadibly simple in the lyrics but listening to it you would never guess this is what craig is saying he mumbles and sounds well really stoned. It the perfect cross between nirvana and the beatles, beautiful and melodic but still raw and un glamorous.

The Vines are just great. Those negative reviews just don't make sense.I mean there's just nothing to not like about them. And all that shit about them sounding like Nirvana, well Nirvana sounds like Nirvana and The Vines sound like The Vines. Get Over It!!
And ofcourse Craig is just a precious to planet Earth!

THE VINES = LEGEND | Reviewer: Christie
------ About artist/band The Vines
Ever since i heard their cd Highly Evolved, i completely fell in love with The Vines. They have great music, fantastic lyrics and Craig Nicholls has that auora of good looking-ness about him that this band can't go wrong. People have a habit of comparing them to The Strokes which i think is complete rubbish because The Vines are COMPLETELY different to our fellow friends The Strokes. SO, ignore the hype and check these guys out for yourselves, they are legend.

so of course the title makes me think of Tom Petty. Nice little guitar bit at first sets it up as a mellow rock song. Sounds like Jet, which of course means it sounds like someone else. A little bit of Beatles. The Verve Pipe, etc. Seventies bands, maybe Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, though I’ve never listened to enough Zeppelin to really know. I should remedy that. It’s a long song with lots of parts. The clean electric intro comes back as an acoustic outro. All over slow, which makes it dreamy (or drug-hazy,) but that may be just that keeps it from being a real jewel. Not really one to sing along to – too slow, and then too repetitive. It shows that the Vines know how to write a rock song, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there were lots of better songs on the CD. It definitely makes me interested to hear more of this CD.

my god!
that review just informed me about the you love criag nicholls, have you met him?, didn't think so. you may really injoy the vines music and think craig is good, no, more than good looking, but i do find you pathectic, now, that's what i call my "review" of the opinion of the other "review", now getting back to 'The vines', wow, the music is just mind blowing. i just think it's terrific. my best band, tho i don't mind gorillaz. you have to give them credit. any who i best be off, toodles!
p.s Craig Nicholls does rock, and not be a hypercrite, he is bloody good looking, i just melted when i heard him speak on the radio. ( not to sound too pathectic)
I Looooooooove Craig!!!!!!!!!!!!! | Reviewer: Valerie
