The Unforgettable Fire Lyrics - U2

Review The Song (14)

Ice
Your only rivers run cold
These city lights
They shine as silver and gold
Dug from the night
Your eyes as black as coal
Walk on by
Walk on through
Walk 'til you run
And don't look back
For here I am

Carnival
The wheels fly and the colors spin
Through alcohol,
Red wine that punctures the skin
Face to face
sponsored links
In a dry and waterless place

Walk on by
Walk on through
So sad to besiege your love so head on
Stay in this time
Stay tonight in a lie
I'm only asking but I
I think you know
Come on take me away
Come on take me away
Come on take me home
Home again

And if the mountain should crumble
Or disappear into the sea
Not a tear, no not I
Stay in this time
Stay tonight in a lie
Ever after
This love in time
And if you save your love
Save it all tonight

Don't push me too far
Don't push me too far
Tonight
Tonight

Happiness through my short life | Reviewer: Mia | 8/18/11

Well, even if im only starting my "double digit" years, i have followed U2 throughout my life, starting from when i could understand words, my dad would play their- I don't think there are words to describe how I feel about U2's music. Lets just say, thank you U2 for making my sometime crummy life more godly(I listen to the "stuff" I hear in church better now.), and peaceful(when i feel rage). Thank you Bono,Edge, Adam, and Larry!

I'm only asking but I
I think you know
Come on take me away

This song reaches climax upon these words.
It is a beautiful song about love and desire.

It's about asking
It's about a mental connection
It's about taking a journey together

Our love journey must be above all that we ask or think.
I hope this song is not about a one night stand.

Modern Masterpiece... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/7/10

This is without a doubt the greatest thing written in my lifetime; when heard on a proper system, the layers and depth are without equal; the Edge, besides being a complete warlock with a guitar, is a master of actually playing the spaces between notes as if they were the music itself..

piercing song | Reviewer: relic | 7/16/10

yep this song rings in my head even after these many years. I have had the album i don't know how many times.Just bought it again in Singapore cos somehow it found its way out of the cover. In any case this for me is U2's magnum opus. brilliant. I pierces the soul.

pure emotion | Reviewer: carlos | 11/1/09

If it helps, on the 80´s we discovered U2;I am from Spain and the worst thing I can not forget is that I were in sommerset stdying and they were playing in Cardiff; I could not find a ticket; that is life; i WILL try in Sevilla but It will be nearly impossible.

Pure emotion ! | Reviewer: Raymond | 3/21/09

What more can I ad to what has been written already..???
I follow U2 from the early 80's. Never been a hardcore fan, but I appreciate their work very much. This song is without a doubt their, no THE, best song ever ! Beautiful how such a godly voice can awake such intense emotions!

The Best... | Reviewer: Ed | 1/16/08

With U23D coming out this week, I thought it best to once again state that U2 is without a doubt a band that must be ranked with the Beatles, Led Zepplin, The Rolling Stones, et. al. A "Super Group" who has touched generations past, present and in the future. With that being said, The Unforgettable Fire, to me, was the climax of this group. The song of the same name is equally the best ever. I know others had more success, but to fans who have followed U2 since 1980 this song means so much. Thanks U2 for being who you are.

As good as Barber or Dylan | Reviewer: John L. | 12/15/07

I rank this song up there with Samuel Barber's "Adagio for Strings" or Bob Dylan's "Tangled Up in Blue" for eliciting intense emotions. Of all U2s outstanding early songs, this is/was my favorite, at least when I was listening alone (kind of embarrassing to have tears well up in a public setting).

Unforgettable Song | Reviewer: Sagar | 10/29/07

Like many fans of my generation who would've gotten into music by the age of 15 or 16, I first heard U2 through the song Elevation and then, the album All That You Can't Leave Behind.
I sometimes wonder if the success of albums like Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby and All That You Can't Leave Behind ... which are no doubt rock's finest masterpieces ... eclipses the subtle beauty and raw passion of songs on this album ... "The Unforgettable Fire" is a hallmark of the passion that this band has for more than 25 years poured into their music ...
