Review The Song (41)Print the Lyrics
I am an arms dealer
Fitting you with weapons in the form of words
And don't really care which side wins
As long as the room keeps singing
That's just the business I'm in, yeah

This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn arms race
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn arms race
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn arms race
I'm not a shoulder to cry on
But I digress

I'm a leading man
and the lies I weave are, oh so intricate,
Oh so intricate
[x2]

I wrote the gospel on giving up
(You look pretty sinking)
But the real bombshells have already sunk
(Prima donnas of the gutter)
At night we're painting your trash gold while you sleep
Crashing not like hips or cars,
No, more like p-p-p-parties

This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn arms race
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn arms race
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn arms race
This bandwagon's full
Please, catch another

I'm a leading man
and the lies I weave are, oh so intricate,
Oh so intricate
[x2]

Yeah…
Whoa-oh

All the boys who the dance floor didn't love
And all the girls whose lips couldn't move fast enough
Sing, until your lungs give out

This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn arms race
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn arms race
(Now you)
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn arms race
(Wear out the groove)
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn arms race
(Sing out loud)
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn arms race
(Oh, oh)
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn arms race

I'm a leading man
and the lies I weave are, oh so intricate,
Oh so intricate
[x2]

why feud | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/7/09

How silly is this, arguing over a song coz it says god damn. Well holy shit, it just seems stupid. Maybe yu boys should realise that because of yur so called fucking 'religon' that's all about 'loving and caring' for people has caused some of the biggest slaughterings of innocent men, women and children then any other religon. Even the idiots who crashed into the twin towers, their religon has less blood on their hands then yurs. And if they kill themselves and other helpless innocent people they get virgins and rivers of god damn honey! When will yu realise that stupid fucking religon creates some of the biggest wars and mass suicides this worlds ever seen. Next time yu people who have 'faith' wanna kill someone, how bout pointing the fucking gun around and shooting yurself in yur dumbass head.

HELLO? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/12/09

I am an extremely religious Christian and I do not find the song offending. I think what you guys are doing is just ridiculous.

It's a SONG. An extremely good song, to say the least, and I think while you do have the RIGHT to be offended, I don't think you have a REASON.

good song!!!, chill guys (annoying!) | Reviewer: Lily | 5/1/09

first off alex. yes you're completely right. I freakin hate when a good band has longtime fans the losers who just start listining. claiming to kno all about them but have no idea about their past. now I'm no big fan of FOB and this is one of the few songs I like, but I'm no hipocrite. I do not claim to kno a lot about FOB and don't consider myself a fan. I have however seen this happen to bands like AFI. they have longtime fans like me, then emo losers who only heard of "December underground" not their older better stuff. I feel bad for FOB, ditch the losers, Listin to ur real fans

now to blu. ur also completely right. the chorus is yeah... offending. the Christian has a right to BE offended. keep stickin up for urself bro.

this isnt about emo | Reviewer: kelly | 4/17/08

this aint a scene, its a goddamn arms race. then they work with some gangsta rap guys that they call hiphop, the this aint a scene its a goddamn arms race obviously is speaking to the rap crap with the crews and their weapons and bull threatening each other. the rest i dont know, i think its still about that. and that the people involved dont really mean what theyre singing or care. note that its one of the guys from the hiphop part who kills pete cuz he loves their music. the rap world and hip hop one are filled with hate and threats and death

Dude, you guys have the right to believe what you want, you can accept Christianity or not, but one thing you can't do is tell someone else how they should feel about their own beliefs. If someone out there is complaining about how they don't like the chorus because it goes against their faith, good for them. But you can't tell him to "Oh chill out" in a "don't worry about it" kind of way and discriminate. Let him be, and find some other way to feel tough.

Second, Alex, you're argument doesn't make any sense, "Pete is making fun of them emo scene. So, chill out Christian kid. Pete's basically saying in this song that a lot of his lyrics are lies.." How does that make the chorus acceptable for a Christian? It doesn't. Your reasoning is nonsense.

As for me, I've always loved the catchiness of this song and everything about it except for the cursing in the chorus too. So I edited it out. (I'm an experience music mixer) And I find nothing wrong with that. Now I can enjoy the song to the fullest. I'm not trying to start a religious argument here, so please guys, lets not start fighting over Christianity and religion because that's pointless. This scenario could've been on Buddhism, or science, or preferences of a favorite color even, it doesn't matter, the point I'm making is this: Don't tell someone to accept something which they don't feel is right. Don't even discourage them from believing their ways just because you don't agree. In this case, what harm did it do to you? None. So stop trying to act big by belittling others.

Rockin' song.

Blu.

First, it's exactly the same, Maruu. So why don't YOU read it before calling us names. Plus, there's no line like that up there. -mumbles about stupid people-

Okay, anyway. I absouletly love this song. I think it's one of the best they've done. The video is pure excellence. I love the Pete part, hilarious xD
And the funeral, that's funny too. Anyways, this is an awesome song and I give it 1000000000000000000000000000/10

P.S.
I totally agree with you Alex. Chillax little Christian.

Just a thought. | Reviewer: Alex | 1/9/08

I'd like to comment on how clever Pete Wentz is. I mean, he must be considering you all have no idea what you're talking about. Pete is making fun of them emo scene. So, chill out Christian kid. Pete's basically saying in this song that a lot of his lyrics are lies, (the lies I weave are oh-so intricate) in past albums, and he's laughing at anyone who took those lyrics to heart ["as long as the room keeps singing thats just the business I'm in"]
"To all the boys who the dance floor didn't love,
And all the girls who's lips couldn't move fast enough
Sing, until your lungs give out" That's talking about his real fans, the fans who didn't take it to heart, the ones who can see the humor in it, and see that he was just fucking around.
"Bandwagon's full
Please, catch another"
That's to all you guys, who probably started listening to them just recently because you wanna look more emo, with your "emo" music.
So, Fall Out Boy has enough fans from way back when, so please, find another one..
