The Suffering Lyrics - Coheed And Cambria

Review The Song (42)

Is there word or right to say,
Even in this old fashioned way?
Go make your move girl,
I'm not coming home.

Would things have changed if I could have stayed?
Would you have loved me either way?
Dressed to the blues, day to day, with my collar up.

Decision sits so make it quick,
A breath inhaled from an air so sick
I cursed the day I had learned of the web you spun
You had your hold 'till bleeding

Hey, hey!
If it was up to me,
I would have figured you out way before the year clocked out.
Oh I hope you're waiting. Oh I hope you're waiting.

Hey, Hey!

If it was up to me
I would have never walked out
So until the sun burns out
Oh, I hope you're waiting

Would we have lived as a child would care?
With this vile to drink I dare
Only to cry all alone with your taste on tongue (Oh where have you been... Oh where have you been?)
Oh where have you been if it hurts to be forgiving? Bye!

Should we try this again with hope? (Bye-bye!)
Or is it lost, give up the ghost?
And should I die all alone as I knew I would?
Then burn in Hell young sinner!

Hey, Hey! Haha!
If it was up to me,
I would've figured you out way before the year clocked out
Oh, I hope you're waiting. Oh, I hope you're waiting

Listen well, will you marry me? (Not now, boy.)
Are you well in the Suffering? (You've been..)
The most gracious of hosts,
You may be invited girl, but you're not coming in.

Listen well, will you marry me? (Not now, boy.)
Are you well in the Suffering? (You've been..)
The most gracious of hosts,
I may be invited girl, but I'm not coming in.

Hey, Hey!
If it was up to me, (You had your hold!)
I would've figured you out way before the year clocked out
Oh, I hope you're waiting

Hey, Hey!
If it was up to me (Give up the ghost!)
I would have never walked out
So until the sun burns out (Oh where have you been?)
Oh, I hope you're waiting

Listen well, will you marry me? (Not now, boy.)
Are you well in the Suffering? (You've been..)
The most gracious of hosts,
You may be invited girl, but you're not coming in.

Listen well, will you marry me? (Not now, boy.)
Are you well in the Suffering? (You've been..)
The most gracious of hosts,
I may be invited girl, but I'm not coming in.

Are you well in the Suffering? (You've been..)
The most gracious of hosts,

Listen well, will you marry me? (Not now, boy.)
Are you well in the Suffering? (You've been..)
The most gracious of hosts,
I may be invited girl, but I'm not coming in.

And you're not coming in...

The Real Meaning | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/24/10

The real meaning in this song is the guy I believe The Writing Writer proposing to the chick Ambilina or something like that can't remember off the top of my head but yeah she pretty much blows him off and it goes into Ten Speed and Welcome Home

continuation | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/1/10

This song was written as a continuation of Wake Up, which is a love song Claudio wrote for his girlfriend before he went off to tour. They broke up due to the long distance, and this song is about the break up, and his desperation to keep the relationship afloat by asking her to marry him. That's the real side of the story, as to how this song relates to the album's story, I have no clue.

Powerfull Lyrics | Reviewer: AHyee | 8/24/09

This song have really good stuff, especially the lines "Burn in hell young sinner" and my favorite "The most gracious of hosts
You may be invited, girl, but you're not coming in"
This is old school lyrics and combined with their new school instrumentals and Claudio's sweet voice. Coheed and Cambria is one of the monumental bands this century had ever seen.
More power!

Question | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/21/09

So the only amory wars comics that are out now are 2nd stage turbine and good Apollo volume 1? Meaning that there are alot yet to be realesed? Why did they skip in keeping of silent earth?I'm confused.

meh | Reviewer: Mark | 7/9/09

Ok the song is absolutely about a guy loving a girl who dies before he gets the chance to propose to her. The line "With this vial to drink I dare." is from romeo and juliet he is talking about dying himself so that he can be with her in the afterlife. Its a very powerful song and very moving. I love it

good | Reviewer: theman411 | 5/13/09

this song is all about his and her girlfriends life.. they got in a fight.. the boy never went back to the girl when suddenly the boy heard the news that the girl died.. before he can even propose to marry the girl.. so the "I hope your waiting" is like he is saying that the girl have to wait till the boy has died.. so that's about it for any confusion you guys got...

Stop reviewing this stuff if you are just gonna argue over the meaning of it. Music is symbolic and important to different people in different ways. What Claudio actually means or what he names the songs after in relation to his comic books is not as important as the meaning that one comes up with it for his/herself.

I think u r all crazy! U can interpret a song any way u want. Most of us tend to relate a song we love to our own lives....I personally, have never heard of the comic book, but, love the band, and appreciate good music!

What it means. | Reviewer: Cholo | 1/17/09

Well, there is one part in the graphic novel "Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV, Volume 1: From Fear Through The Eyes Of Madness", released in 2005 along with the album of the same name (where this song is from) where The Writer proposes to his girlfriend Erica Court, which The Suffering is explaining.

The graphic novel revolves around the life of The [Writing] Writer, who basically crafts the lives of Claudio Kilgannon and the other characters. In the graphic novel, The Writer catches his girlfriend, Erica, cheating on him, and the only way to let go of the fact is to do away with Ambellina, the Prise assigned to protect Claudio. The Writer has delusional conversations with Ten Speed, The Writer's evil thoughts represented by a bicycle. Ten Speed tries to convince The Writer to kill Ambellina, so that the story will end properly, with Claudio realizing that he is The Crowing (similar to a Messiah of some sort).

Scott, sorry, but you sounded so stupid. REALLY stupid. Very off.

Eskew, her name is Erica Court, and it's the Amory Wars, not Armory.

Max, if Coheed and Cambria are the parents of Claudio, then I believe that they are as important as Claudio is.

Anonymous 12/5/07, I really love SSTB, too.

The song is really nice and catchy, I dig the poppy sound. 4 and a half stars for me.

That was a mouthful.

another guess | Reviewer: moe | 1/3/09

I think it might be about a girl he loves who died before he could purpose or make his move and he hopes she will love him in heaven when he dies.
cause the part With this vial to drink I dare kinda seems like he wants to die so he can see her.
also the lyrics
"If it was up to me,
I would've figured you out,
Way before the year clocked out."

is kinda like him saying he wishes he was with her before she died.

but who knows. they should make a website that explains songs, so these debates wouldnt come to be.

p.s. scott you're way off.
