Green Day The Static Age Lyrics

Last updated: 04/27/2012 11:00:00 AM

Can you hear the sound of the static noise
Blasting out in stereo?
Cater to the class and the paranoid
Music to my nervous system

Advertising love and religion
Murder on the airwaves
Slogans on the brink of corruption
Visions of blasphemy
War and peace
Screaming at you

I can't see a thing in the video
I can't hear a sound on the radio
In stereo in the static age

Billboard on the rise in the dawn's landscape
Working your insanity
Tragic a'la madness and concrete
Coca Cola execution

Conscions on a cross and your hearts in a vice
Squeezing out your state of mind
Are what you own that you cannot buy
What a fucking tragedy,strategy
Screaming at you

I can't see a thing in the video
I can't hear a sound on the radio
In stereo in the static age

Hey,hey it's the static age
This is how the west was won
Hey,hey it's the static age millennium

All I want to know is a God-damned thing
Not what's in the medicine
All I want to do is I want to breathe
batteries are not included

What's the latest way that a man can die?
Screaming hallelujah?
Singing out "the dawn's early light"
The silence of the rotten,forgotten
Screaming at you

I can't see a thing in the video
I can't hear a sound on the radio
in stereo in the static age

The static age!

wtf | Reviewer: Blood Bird | 4/27/12

and what about the people who know it all, and love it all? the people who love all of Green Day's music just because ITS FUCKING GREEN DAY!!!!! First two albums i heard were dookie and american idiot. since then, i've listened to and bought all that i could. just because the music changes, doesn't mean its not the same band anymore.

I disagree. | Reviewer: Jimmy | 8/27/11

I completely disagree with "Lisa". Green Day's new work is still Green Day.

It's really sad when people close their minds to a new approach at music that Billie, Mike, and Tre have taken. This song, as well as all of 21st Century Breakdown, are still Green Day. It's just the 21 Guns fanatics that seem to ruin this album for us as old fans. I know Welcome To Paradise, and Basket Case. I even know Why Do You Want Him, as well as the rest of everything they released on Lookout! Records. I enjoy this album because it's STILL Green Day. And it always will be.

"Not Green Day" my arse.

21st century breakdown | Reviewer: not neccesary | 3/25/11

this song is perfectly good, i agree when people haven't heard the old stuff, and say they'er green day's biggest fans, but this album i think is better than american idiot, not by much, but both are amazing, especially restless heart syndrome and horseshoes and handgrenades, but this song is; in my opinion, better than 21 guns, and is my favorite from 21st century breakdown

Been a Greenday fan for 20 years, im not a fanboy some of their stuff i dont care for but this song, and some of th stuff in this album is amazing.

I hate it now greenday are more mainstream that people think they should be "their" band and the old stuff is better

Proof | Reviewer: Lisa | 3/23/10

This song is proof that Green Day's new stuff isn't nearly as good as their old stuff. I hate how people go like, "I'm Green Day's biggest fan! I love 21 Guns!" and then they don't know how Basket Case or Welcome to Paradise go, and that stuff is WAY better than any of the new stuff Green Day has released.

In my opinion, this song is weak. It's like, it's lacking something. It seems like they aren't "trying." Like, his voice doesn't explore higher notes like it could, and it's just a simple little pop-rock-barely-punk song. This album is disappointing to the people who have heard and appreciate their old stuff. I'm not kidding. It's not recommended much. Green Day is awesome, but this album is a disappointment from them. The songs are OK, but it's just not Green Day.
