The Rapture Lyrics - Senses Fail

Review The Song (7)

I waited for the light to come
to change my life, to change my life
But I am blind, my faith is gone
I'm finding out the good book was wrong

And I must face
that I won't be saved

We're destined to all die alone
I buried my cross with a rose
I won't kneel at your alter now that I know
It's a table for a magic show

I'm getting up from off my knees
the guilt is gone and I can finally breathe
But there is not a plan for me
You're making my tired ears bleed

And you can pray
But I won't be saved

The Gospel Frees us From Guilt | Reviewer: Brad | 2/15/12

I have actually currently been struggling with this issue, but I am constantly reminded that it isn't about what "religion" we are. It is about our understanding of the gospel, the good news about what Jesus did for us. Live a perfect life, experienced the death we should have experienced due to our sin, and rising from the dead showing his power over death and it is simply through faith in Him that allows us to live a guiltless life because our sins and things that cause us this guilt was taken upon the cross when Jesus died on that cross. And for those who believe in Jesus this is good news. Psalm 103:12 says "as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us." This is grace at its finest and I challenge everyone to examine the bible for themselves because I agree if you are forced into something and don't understand why you are doing what you are doing it is frustrating, but I would say check out the Bible for yourselves and do not just take other peoples words for it.

Emotions | Reviewer: Griffin | 5/4/11

So i'm griffin, and i suppose im a huge senses fail fan. So as i grew up i was kind of thrown into catholicism(i know thats not right) and due to the fact that i was pretty much forced to church and stuff, ended up hating it. At the beginning of my freshman year i was questioning religion and was near depressed because i just couldn't make my self believe any of the religiony stuff.and i guess the constant pressure from my extremely religous classmates didnt help. But as i started listening to senses fail, all of their songs heled me get through it. I mean the lyrics are so strong in every song and every word has a meaning. This song really is just about buddy's loss of faith i suppose? And i definitely can relate to it

Once Was.. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/8/10

This song captured my mind. I was raised as a Jahova's Witness and I can tell you this. Religion is a scam, a cult, a cruel fate that people blindly fallow. This song helped me reassure myself not that I needed it, that religion is just one big magic show.

Nice to Hear | Reviewer: Tom | 10/14/08

It's sort of a sad song, because realizing that you've been wrong and misled can be hard to deal with. But at the same time he says "I'm getting up from off my knees, the guilt is gone and I can finally breathe." To me, that's very positive - having the burden of a faith which teaches you that you are not the source of truth or power in your life, lifted off your shoulders is amazing, and it will only make you a better person.

It truly makes me happy to hear of people who were once religious but came to realize that there are some answers we just don't have and perhaps we never will. Once you accept that, you remove so many of the barriers that stand like a chasm between people.

So really, I like this song for the juxtaposition of sorrow and happiness. The word choice is also spot on, like "I buried my cross with a rose" and comparing an altar to a table for a magic show. Very cool.

emotions.... | Reviewer: musicislife | 11/8/07

Songs like this play with your emotions. I like this song a lot, but I found it hard to listen to after I got a girlfriend because the lyrics were the exact opposite of how I felt =/. Still, a great song though, and it's fuel for the fire if you're feeling alone in the world....

calm | Reviewer: DiE | 7/2/07

this is a very straight forward song...no confusion here. its very depressing...
