The Outlaw Torn Lyrics
Performed by MetallicaReview The Song (24)
And now I wait my whole lifetime.
For you.
And now I wait my whole lifetime.
For you.
I ride the dirt, I ride the tide.
For you.
I search the outside, search inside.
For you.
Do take back what you left me.
You know I'll always burn to be.
Don't want to seek so I may find.
Don't wanna wait my whole lifetime.
My love torn!
My love torn!
My love torn!
Love torn.
So on I wait my whole lifetime.
For you.
So on I wait my whole lifetime.
For you.
The more I search, the more my need.
For you.
The more I bless, the more I bleed.
For you.
You make me smash the clock and feel.
I'd rather die behind the wheel.
Time was never on my side.
So on I wait my whole lifetime.
My love torn!
My love torn!
My love torn!
And I'm torn.
Hear me!
And if I close my mind in fear!
Please pry it open!
See me!
And if my face becomes sincere!
Beware!
Hold me!
And if I start to come undone!
Stitch me together!
See me!
And if you see me strut.
Remind me of what left this outlaw torn.
Hear me!
And if I close my mind in fear!
Please pry it open!
See me!
And if my face becomes sincere!
Beware!
Hold me!
And if I start to come undone!
Stitch me together!
See me!
And if you see me strut!
Remind me of what left this outlaw torn!

one of the greatest songs ever | Reviewer: chester | 4/15/12
it's one of the best. what else can be said about this song. it's so powerfull, raw, emotional, slow, hard and heavy all rolled into one. probaly the best James has ever sung on this song. the s&m version is good but nothing compares to the original on the load album. turn it up loud....heaps of bass and enjoy. promise it will get you hard in all the right places :)
James and Jason | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/1/11
This song is so great. Inspired and deeply, passion, sad lyrics slowly music but strong at same time... And the guitar Solo... Fuck! All is amazing but... James's voice with jason on background vocals... Yeaah! Robert T. Is good but i like the "energy bomb" of jason. And he is so great on background vocals. They booth made great songs with the best voices. I like all the metallialbums... Thrash, rock, progressive... Whatever! They metallica and they can play how they want it. Great music! Hey sorry about my englis... I speak spanish. Metal up your ass!
Wow...James is amazing | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/8/11
I totally agree with everyone here..james' voice is amazing. I knew he had powerful vocals but this song is outta hand! The passion in his voice is so inspiring. It's great when you can relate to lyrics and I feel that each Metallica song is so relatable. I love James!! I think he's the most versatile and talented member of the band...which is saying a lot since Lars, Kirk and Robert are so talented as well.
Amazing Vocals | Reviewer: Kemerogh | 6/14/11
This song is my favorite as far as vocals go, James in the S&M album has such power and feeling behind is vocals. I think the thing that throws this song over the edge, is honestly Jason's backing vocals during the chorus. He still has that deep gritty sound while you hear James polished clear sound over top of it. Amazing.
...what?? | Reviewer: Brittany | 3/16/11
To whoever this Pharoah person is...youre obviously foreign because nothing you said makes sense at all...i dont know who this "her" is that youre referring to...but yes, Metallica is the greatest band that has ever walked the earth and anyone who doesnt like them shouldn't be allowed air.
OK... | Reviewer: Pharaoh Marik III. | 3/14/11
This song is OK,I like it very much, but i still don't listen to her very often(when i have enough time then i listen)everybody laugh at me because i love Metallica,so what?SO FUCKING WHAT?!!!I'll listen to her to the end of my life...METAL RULES!!!
Based on the book? | Reviewer: Erin | 3/2/11
I'm surprised that with so many positive reviews for the lyrics and inspiration that no one has wondered if it was inspired by the book "Outlaw of Torn" by Edgar Rice Burroughs. It's one of his lesser known books, but it's amazing. I can easily seeing it being the basis for this song. You can read it on-line too: www.gutenberg.org/catalog/world/readfile?fk_files=1442193
Omg James | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/24/10
Ok, putting my complete infatuation for James hetfield's voice aside, metallica is probably one of the best bands of all time. And for all the people that commented how much they like the S&M version, I totally effing agree. It's hard to choose whether I like this song or bleeding me better. All I know us that I want to make a vibrator out of the sound waves of James' voice. Lol
My favorite! | Reviewer: Metallica fan | 8/22/10
I really like this song! I don't know how many replays made of this song! This is my favorite song of Metallica ever, it gives me the chills, i really like the lyrics of the song! It looks like James really was inspired while doing the song, i can't live without Metallica! METALLICA FOR EVER!!!!
Awesome | Reviewer: Elisabeth | 12/7/09
I think that The Outlaw Torn is a beautiful song and the emotion in Hetfield's voice can be heard and that really touches me. Every time I hear the song I get a feeling that I caren't describe like I know what Hetfield and the rest of the band are feeling. Anyway, awesome song!
could it be the best song ever? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/6/09
don't know how many times i have listened to this song over and over doesn't matter what version of the song they are all amazing live version or studio version the basic riffs, james singing from his heart i never knew james could even sing like that to many people can relate to this song if you have ever lost a loved one the live version with the orchestra just adds more meaning to the song it doesn't matter what you are doing you feel powerful doing it and at least, as much as i love songs about sex drugs killing and rock & roll, its a song about a sad time in metallica history i would certainly say that this song is the greatest song ever by metallica and one of the greatest in music history

This song rules. The S&M version proves to be the most powerful experience i've had, listening wise. HAHA and the solo Kirk does when it sounds like bombs are dropping-- is the shit! I love this song and also gives me chills when i hear it. I wish so much i was there to witness the performance with the orchestra. rock on!!
the song | Reviewer: K. L. K. | 10/23/09
this song is beautiful and another reason thrown at me to go ahead with my suicide, when you relate to song after song, not because you want to but because the songs are painstakingly true...those songs would be: The unforgiven I, this song, and fade to black; all such detailed descriptions of my life
Greatest heavy metal song | Reviewer: Buddhaspank | 10/14/09
This is hands down the greatest song ever written. Never understood peoples dislike for those load and reload albums...Just saw them live and its sad that neither of those albums make an appearance.
Awsome | Reviewer: Jazza | 8/4/09
I love this song, first time I heard it it literally blew me away. I love how Metallica's evolved over the years, though I'm a retatively new fan I love these guys, everything comes together so nicely in this song, James and Kirk on guitars and Jason on bass, and of course, the most outspoken of the band (also the funniest), Lars. I really think this is one of the best songs from the Load and Reload era, it's really sad how it never got the radio time it deserved....
