Straight outta Oakland, the Matches set the California
music scene on fire last year thanks to twelve explosive,
hook-injected songs recorded on the cheap in their
basements and living rooms. Coupled with an unstoppable
work ethic that included the band's very own "Commotion
Promotion" tactics, buzz on the quartet's self-released
debut E. Von Dahl Killed the Locals and the live shows that
supported it spread like a virus to music More...

------ About the song The Barber's Unhappiness performed by The Matches

If there is one thing The Matches know (and there are actually many) it is how to end an album. This song some what breaks the mood of Decomposer, yet it fits perfectly. And the odd almost mismatched lyrics some how make the tone and frame of this song easily understood.

------ About the song Salty Eyes performed by The Matches

I stumbled upon my review of this song from two years earlier... I'd just like to clear up that by "Unknown bands are better anyway" I meant "Unknown bands are often "unknown" because they are less usual and therefore less people find them aurally appealing. They try new things and don't follow the simple steps to becoming famous/top-sellers and as a result create more diverse music and inspire a different (perhaps more creative?) person as oposed to the usual 'happy with comfortably simple music' group.

Sick little suicide: The matches | Reviewer: Ronne
------ About the song Sick Little Suicide performed by The Matches

First off,i would like to say how much of a awsome song this is. I just want to share my thoughts on this song and its meaning, the meaning i have towards the song.

I have listened to this song and what it means to me is that, there is a 'Sick Little Suicide' in every day life. People are commiting suicide to themselves through alcohol, drugs, smoking, love and the list could go on...but

"There's a sick little suicide
in all that we do...
you decide,
which one's for you!?"

You get to decide what you want to do...what long term form of suicide you want to commit, not just to yourself but the one's around you and to the world.

"Exercise and malnutrition
keep curves tight,
cause all that matters is what's outside.
So says every magazine cover"

Is that what the world is comming too? Thats what the majority of people these day's are concerned about 'if she/he does't have "tight curves" and a pretty face' they do not deserve a life, the media inflicts this onto us everyday "So says every magazine cover".

We dare to step out of line,as we would get victimized to the point of suicide. We all just do as we are told, follow what we think is right if we can not live a life being who we are we must fit in with society and be what we are not......

That concludes my 'voice' to the world and to this song.I hope a made some sense to those who read this and i did not confuse anyone.Just remember "you decide" the way you want to live 'your life' and don't let anyone choose your fate.

I first heard it in the background whilst on msn. I found myself humming along before I even noticed how fantastic it was. Everything about it. The music, the voice, the filmclip, and, GOD, the lyrics O.O
FANTASTIC.
RE: SHHH
I agree. Bands that are "unknown" are better anyway ^.^

------ About the song Scratched Out (Track 11) performed by The Matches

I just love this song. For me, it's all about longing and being alone when you want to be with someone else. It's about anticipation and feeling anxious and needy, feeling like you love someone more than they love you. It's an awesome song, the vocals are just amazing, so many contrasts, so much imagination... And the guitar isn't bad at all. An excellent song, so go listen to it. Now xD

------ About the song Papercut Skin performed by The Matches

yes it does indeed.. just one of the many little gems that the matches have hidden for us to uncover.. in many ways, like the masons. they hide me clues everywhere!! seriously i was walking down the street and saw a place called proctor house.. it freaked me out a little. the lyrics are from tht old nursery ryhme something like there was a boy called michael finnagin, but in reverse. emphasising the idea of repetition& the word again

This song just makes you smile no matter what mood you're in. It's comedic, and the way the vocals sound to stress it to make it sound like reality, like it's happening right now, or even happened a little while ago, it doesnt matter, it still can cheer you up no matter what.
