The Little Boy That Santa Claus Forgot Lyrics

Performed by Nat King Cole
Review The Song (20)

(Connor/Carr/Leach)

He's the little boy that Santa Claus forgot,
And goodness knows, he didn't want a lot.

He sent a note to Santa
For some soldiers and a drum,
It broke his little heart
When he found Santa hadn't come.

In the street he envies all those lucky boys,
Then wanders home to last year's broken toys.
I'm so sorry for that laddie,
He hasn't got a daddy,
The little boy that Santa Claus forgot.

Spoken:
(You know, Christmas comes but once a year for every girl and boy,
The laughter and the joy they find in each brand new toy.
I'll tell you of a little boy that lives across the way...
This little fella's Christmas is just another day.
He's the little boy that Santa Claus forgot,
And goodness knows, he didn't want a lot.)

In the street he envies all those lucky boys,
Then wanders home to last year's broken toys.
I'm so sorry for that laddie,
He hasn't got a daddy,
The little boy that Santa Claus forgot.

As a child in the early 50s I heard this song Infact it was a reminder not to look for a lot and be thankful for what you got. It need to be played today so world will stop wanting and more giving.

Memories of my dear Mum | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/8/11

My dear Mum who passed away 4 years ago used to sing this song to us when we were children. It used to make us cry. She said she first heard it sung in a cinema when she was a child and it made her cry too.

Heartbreaking. | Reviewer: Karen | 12/17/10

I just heard this song for the first time, I don't recall ever hearing this Christmas song, but this Christmas song is too heartbreaking for me to even listen to again! Santa is supposed to see the good boys and girls and he was not even bad.

A 71 year old woman cries! | Reviewer: Mary | 12/24/09

I just love this song. When my kids were growing up I played it all of the time. My hubby was very poor growing up and always said "that's me" he is referring to in the song. I am so glad I was able to find this online.

my dad used to sing this song to me and my brother quite a lot.he was a soldier in the second world war and some of his comrades did not make it home and possibly this song reminded him of their children,so we always counted our blessings

Treasured Weepie Memory | Reviewer: Liz | 12/23/08

My Dad (who died 15 years ago ) used to sing this song to me when I was a little girl and then to my children. It always made me cry and still does and I'm 59 now. It brings back wonderful memories of a man we all miss very much.

Broken Hearted | Reviewer: ian | 1/16/08

My dear mother died yesterday (15 January 2008 )
She sang this song to mewhen i was a little boy and every time she did i cried.....I aske her to sing it for me since and again I wept....

Today I can not stop thinking about her and this song is in my head constantly as I focus on her and my loss....you are never too old to be affected by a heart felt song and as a 53 year old...I will always be moved by the lyrics and the sound in my mind of my mother's voice singing this too me...god bless you mother.

"Sweet Memories | Reviewer: Charles Ken Kostyra | 12/16/07

My late dad..singer Chuck Koster recorded this tune, which was included in his CD "Bummin'Around"
It was a sad tune..but always a favorite during his live performances in Chgo around Xmas time.He passed away in 1999,but the tune gets played with some regularity every Holiday Season on somelocal Chgo stations..His music can be found on "CD Baby"

I love this song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/16/07

I was singing this tonight for my son..My Mam passed away less than a month ago and she always sang this song to us at Christmas...it always made us feel so lucky for what we had...she used to tell us that Santa came the next day and left the toys for the little boy because she didnt want us to be upset. Great to eventually find out who sang it!!

Beautiful memories | Reviewer: Ken | 12/12/07

My Mam would sing this to us at Christmas every year and it would make me so very sad. She's in Ireland and I'm in Australia now. We haven't had a Christmas together for five years. When I hear this song it makes me feel even further away.

Memories | Reviewer: Steven Arndell | 12/6/07

This song holds so many memories for me. Sitting in my Grandparents front room with this playing on the record player. I'd be there looking out the window feeling sorry for all the children with no fathers to celebrate the time of year, one of the best thought provoking seasonal songs ever.

Gone but not forgotten | Reviewer: Vicky | 12/6/07

My dear Dad used to sing this to me every year when I was a little girl (I'm 55 now), and it never failed to make me cry. My Dad's long gone now, and I now find myself singing this to my own Grandchildren (I still can't finish it without tears) and telling them all about their wonderful Great Grandfather who they never got a chance to meet!

Worst song ever | Reviewer: Barry | 12/4/07

This as bad as the song with the kid who wants shoes for his dying Mom... what would she need shoes for anyway... worst Christmas song EVER!
