Oh, the last ten years, it's been quite trip
Over thirty-six-hundred spins around without a cosmic slip
But within the realm of our atmosphere
We're 'bout as out of whack as we've ever been in a million years
We watched the Y2K scare in a panic
An' we watched as time proved Nostrodamus wrong
An' we watched as Mother Nature shook the planet
An' cellular replaced the telephone
We lost Charlie Brown, Ray Charles an' Johnny Cash
We even lost Superman, mhm.

Well, the last ten years, look at the hills we've climbed
The best golfer's black, the best rapper's white an' it's about damn time
But we best beware, there's a brand new fight, you see
An' I hate to say we might be our own worst enemy
We watched Oklahoma sifting through the damage
An' we watched a US President get caught
We watched shareholders watch their savings vanish
We all cried when we watched those towers fall
We lost Minnie Pearl, Ron Reagan and Sam I Am
We even lost Superman, mhm.

Expensive gas an' free downloads
The dot-com boom, an' reality shows
What's gonna happen next is anypony's guess
Satellite radio and hybrid cars
Hoof-held computers an' a trip to Mars
It's all become a part of who we are
In the last ten years.

In the last ten years
We lost George Harrison, John Paul and June Carter-Cash
Hell, we even lost Superman
Gonna miss you. Chris...

I was spellbound listening to this timeless song. It underscores the reality of our changing world, transcent nature of life and the dangers inherent in technological advancement. Love u kenny.

I don't like c/w music but I do like this song.
Since it's release we've lost Bert Jansch,John
Martyn and many more musicians.

As Bert was my guitar hero, to emulate Kenny's last line, "I'll miss you Bert"

Kenny did a good job narrating what happened in the last decade. We will never witness such good music ever again. I wish the up and coming musicians get to serious business and write meaningful music. Imagime simple things like "cellular replaced the telephone" "Y2K panic" making a hit. Well done Kenny

Too gud | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/21/07

Kenny is always gud but this is his best arguably. Chris was more than a superman for us, he was almost every kid's hero. may his soul RIP

From India with love | Reviewer: Jay | 10/10/07

America lost a hero, but the world lost Christopher Reeves. It's hard not to shed a tear when Kenny Rogers sings that we lost superman, coz that's what Reeve's truly was - a Superman to millions around the world.

Great song! | Reviewer: Mandy | 7/2/07

I love this song! It makes us appreciate what we still have and remember all that we have lost and how much has changed in only ten years. It's a great song to remember Christopher Reeve. One of very few songs that are dedicated to him.

the best yet | Reviewer: sharon | 12/26/06

Kenny Rogers said he didn't want to make a come back but then he should not have sang this song . It is the best yet and I have been a Kenny Rogers fan for years but this song makes me cry to stop and take a look at who we have lost. Very, very good song....loved it

Great Song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/21/06

Really makes a great point about how the world is different and what has changed over the last 10 years. Reminds me of things I'd forgotten had happened.
