The Holly And The Ivy Lyrics - Annie Lennox

Review The Song (1)

The holly and the ivy,
When they are both full grown,
Of all trees that are in the wood,
The holly bears the crown

[Refrain:]
O, the rising of the sun,
And the running of the deer
The playing of the merry organ,
Sweet singing in the choir.

The holly bears a blossom,
As white as lily flow'r,
And Mary bore sweet Jesus Christ,
To be our dear Saviour

[Refrain]

The holly bears a berry,
As red as any blood,
sponsored links
And Mary bore sweet Jesus Christ,
To do poor sinners good

[Refrain]

The holly bears a prickle,
As sharp as any thorn,
And Mary bore sweet Jesus Christ,
On Christmas Day in the morn

[Refrain]

The holly bears a bark,
As bitter as the gall,
And Mary bore sweet Jesus Christ,
For to redeem us all

[Refrain]

The holly and the ivy,
When they are both full grown,
Of all trees that are in the wood,
The holly bears the crown

[Refrain]

I just saw it yesterday in the afternoon! :o I was so excited when I saw the beautiful artwork, isn't that great? That a new CD Single has been taken out from the Cornucopia album, one year after its original release just amazes me with pleasure :listen: Annie definetly knew what and how she wanted to treat her music when she left Sony Music! :D

It would be great if she released a new single each coming Christmas for the next years, can you imagine?

Also, someone asked before in the album thread if there would be a new videoclip for this new single. Well, if we take this fact into account... we could positively say that they DO have material for another video, don't you think?
