The Hindu Times Lyrics - Oasis
Review The Song (1)
I get up when I'm down
I can't swim but my soul won't drown
I do believe I got flare
I got speed and I walk on air
Cos God gimme soul in your rock 'n' roll, babe
Cos God gimme soul in your rock 'n' roll, babe
And I get so high I just can't feel it
And I get so high I just can't feel it
In and out my brain, running through my vein
You're my sunshine, you're my rain
There's a light that shines on
Shines on me and it keeps me warm
It gimme peace I must say
I can't sleep cos the world won't wait
Cos God gimme soul in your rock 'n' roll, babe
Cos God gimme soul in your rock 'n' roll, babe
And I get so high I just can't feel it
And I get so high I just can't feel it
In and out my brain, running through my vein
You're my sunshine, you're my rain
And I get so high I just can't feel it
And I get so high I just can't feel it
And I get so high I just can't feel it
And I get so high I just can't feel it
In and out my brain, running through my vein
You're my sunshine, you're my rain

The Hindu Times is Oasis' only number one hit on Heathen Chemistry, despite this, it is still a very good album, an excellent prelude to 'Don't believe the truth'. It allows Andy, Gem and Liam all to write their own songs within the album, a first for Oasis. The song itself is powerfully composed, with superb guitar riffs and solo's from Gem, and delivered again with the assured vocal tones of Liam Gallahger. It is a song like many of the old Oasis songs, with a quick tempo that makes us remember songs such as 'Hello' and 'What's the story morning glory?', no surprise either, that the British public also loved the song, as it reached number one in the charts, the 7th time Oasis had done so.
