I remember a few years back the last day at boy scout camp there was a huge thunder storm with lightning all around the councilors had gathered us all in the mess and were singing camp songs this was the last song one of the councilors sang...I cried so much that night I love this song

I am now 38 years old, I remember my Daddy singing this song to me as a little girl. I can't believe I never knew the "ACTUAL" lyrics and how as a 16 year old falling asleep at my boyfriends house and having this exact experience totally slipped my mind until now!! I can't believe I found this song. My grandmother used to sing this to me as she would rock me or when I was feeling bad. All I could remember was the "Please Mr. Conductor, don't put me off this train." I remember that it was about a little boy trying to get home to his dying mother and that there was a little girl that wanted to help him.
As My Grandmother(Granny)lie in her bed at the end she was humming this tune. I started humming it with her and brushing her hair as she had done for me so many times.
THIS was a wonderful song that just brought back so many GREAT memories. THANKS for keeping the old music alive.

I accidently found this song, and I couldnt believe it, My mother used to sing this song to me when I was just a little girl. It took me a minute or two to figure out how I knew the words, but then it hit me MOM! What wonderful memories came flooding back. Awesome :)
