------ About the album Hazards Of Love performed by The Decemberists

The above synopsis is accurate and helpful as the album is not easy to understand by just listening over and over to it--I've tried. I got most of it but there were some twists I was not aware of.

But the music. It is moving, powerful and addicting. I can listen endlessly to this one as one grouping though the song of the Rake killing the children without an apparent conscience or second thought is one of my favourites (and I work with little kids!!)

I can only say it is an album worth buying and I say this with the new album out that has rave reviews (already bought too!) You will not be disappointed by what I call a rock opera of the Hazards of Love. Now I think we need Tim Burton and Johnny Depp to collaborate with the Decemberists to do a movie of this album story.

------ About the album Hazards Of Love performed by The Decemberists

It's a good story. Margret who is wandering in the woods runs into a wounded faun and fixes his hind leg. The faun then turns into a man named William. They make love and he disappears. Later Margret gets pregnant and goes to find William. Eventually she finds him. William's mother, The queen of the forest doesn't like Margret. So when William goes to ask his mother permission to see Margret that night his mother says sure but i'm gonna kill you when you come back. Now, The rake has killed his children and abducts Margret. The Forrest Queen is on the rakes side and helps them across Annan Water. When William sets out to find Margret, he goes to Annan Water. He tells the river: If you let me cross you can kill me when i come back. The river let's him cross. William saves Margret because the rake's children haunt him. When Margret and William get to Annan Water, they say their vows and get married. They jump into the water together and die together.
