Review The Song (2)Print the Lyrics
Help me I don't know what I'm doing
Help me before I fall to ruin
And if I'm blind, I will lead you on
Come follow me now, before our time is gone

[Chorus]
And as you're laughing at this fool tonight
Let me rid myself of any line that I might choose to trip you up
As I'm howling at the moonlight, don't you kid yourself
I will be your luck and never be your curse
Never be your curse

Help me I don't know what I'm saying
Sometimes this tongue can be betraying
And if I'm wrong, is that such a crime?
And if you want, you can set my words to right

[Chorus]
So as you're laughing at this fool tonight
Let me rid myself of any line that I might choose to trip you up
And as I'm howling at the moonlight, don't you kid yourself
I will be your luck...yeah

And if your eyes forget to well
And if your lies forget to tell
And if our paths forget to cross
It doesn't mean you're lost

[Chorus]
So if you're laughing at this fool tonight
Let me rid myself of any line that I might choose to trip you up
As I'm howling at the moonlight, don't you kid yourself
Even at my worst...

As you're laughing at this fool tonight
Let me rid myself of any line that I might choose to trip you up
And as I'm howling at the moonlight, don't you kid yourself
I will be your luck, even at my worst
I will be your luck, never be your curse

Review about The Curse

God??? Really??? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/27/2007

I think you're really reaching dude. Is God "howling at the moon" or "kidding himself"?

It's definitely a relationship song. They are coming close to an end. He doesn't know what to do and feels ruined without her. He doesn't know where to lead them, but he wants her to follow him instead of going away.

He doesn't think she believes in him. That she's laughing at the way he's offering himself to her. He doesn't want to screw up getting her back. If he does, he'll make her happy (be her luck) even when he's at his worst. He won't break her heart (be her curse) anymore.

He says things he doesn't mean. It's ok if he's wrong, she can get to be right. If she doesn't want to go on with him, she's not lost to him. He'll keep loving her.

Cornell's God devotion | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/30/2005

I really appreciate Cornell's lyrics and voice. Along with that you have RAM guys and well...then you get AudioSlave.

I get chicken skin when I hear this song.
To me it represents the inner confusion between the man that wants to embrace God -get back in his feet and the man that has lost faith in himself.
Cornell’s lyrics are rather amazing because you could really feel it is a romantic song. Yet I believe is not. Rather, I feel it is a very illustrate dialogue btw God and this man's confusion...which of course, ends up being Cornell himself as many of you should know he recently embrace God in his life. And he seems very happy about it!
