I feel it welling up inside
And Robert Smith lied,
Boys do cry and with
Blood tears in my eyes I’m an Anne Rice novel come to life.
I can’t hide the monster… anymore.
One can, only feel desolate for so long until
One starts to change into
Something the mirror doesn't recognize.
Metamorphosize.
The darkness has been biding its time
To claim its latest victim,
Fresh meat for carnal desires,
To become, what I became.
I viewed the sun for the last time.
Will you still hold me when you see what I have done?
Will you still kiss me the same,
When you taste my victim's blood?
So crimson and red,
I feel it flowing from your lips. (Crimson and red)
My heart is dead and so are you.
And it pulses through,
The desire to change, to deconstruct
All of my,
All of my, past failings.
But where to begin, because when you live in sin
It’s hard to look at saints,
Without them reflecting your jet black aura back on you.
And all I have is hope
My inner burn’s not fading,
I’ll wipe the blood from my cheek and get on with my day.
Will you still hold me when you see what I have done?
Will you still kiss me the same,
When you taste my victim’s blood?
So crimson and red,
I feel it flowing from your lips. (Crimson and red)
My heart is dead and so are you.
And all I have is hope
And all I need is time
To bury in pine under six feet of time
The lies I told me about myself.
Claw my way out,
Pick the splinters from under my fingernails.
I won’t lose hope,
I won’t give in.
Just live and breathe, try not to die again.
Just live and breathe, try not to die again.
Just live and breathe, try not to die again.
I try not to die again.
Will you still hold me when you see what I have done?
Will you still kiss me the same,
When you taste my victim’s blood?
So crimson and red,
I feel it flowing from your lips. (Crimson and red)
My heart is dead and so are you.
Will you still hold me when you see what I have done?
Will you still kiss me the same,
When you taste my victim’s blood?
So crimson and red,
I feel it flowing from your lips.(When you taste my victim's blood)
My heart is dead and so are you.

Review about The Crimson Sweet! Vampires! | Reviewer: Grace | 11/11/09
I had heard of Atreyu, but last year I hard this song and saw the music video on a vicTorV DVD that came with my Hawthorne Heights CD and I fell in love :)
This song is still my favorite. I mean, you dont find that many songs about Vampires aside from your classic MCR.
Rock on, Atreyu! :))
From Spain :D | Reviewer: Sara | 10/20/09
I think this song is just awesome. I love it :3
(For those that think that Atreyu is a christian band, and this is a christian song... HELLO? Have you read the lyrics? Even for me — I'm spanish — it's obvious that it's a vampiric song, and not about christianity...)
Pretty cool they sing about vampires | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/18/09
Honestly, I'm not all that into screamo but when I first heard the song I liked it right away, and after looking over the lyrics its clear the song is about vampires, which by the way is freakin awesome, because most music groups base their lyrics on break ups, and drugs, and all their personal troubles. No one ever sings about monsters (cept White Zombie. Big fan of them too.) But yeah its pretty cool they did a song about vampires. The song "The Crimson" also inspired me to write my romance/horror novel about vampires. So all and all its one of my most favorite songs.
So yeah this whole religion thing | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/24/09
So anyway, I was just kinda wonder why it matters if they are Christian or not, I mean I am Christian myself but I listen to many bands like Korn, Slipknot, etc. you get my point, but that doesn't have anything to do with my religion as long as a band makes amazing music then I don't really think it matters what they are...anyways I have to agree even though I have never read any Anne Rice novels so I can't say much, but yeah I'd have to say that this song is about vampires, it just has a lot of things that elude to that kind of subject
About the a7x comment.. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/6/09
They admitted on their 'All Excess' DVD that they are not religious, they just like to use the bible to influence them with song writing, as they have with many, Including Chapter Four and Unholy Confessions.
They basically just pick out cool words or stories from the bible (doesn't mean they believe in them, they just like how they go' and build a song around them. They got the name Avenged Sevenfold from picking out random words in the bible, putting them together and seeing what looked the best together and that is what they chose.
And on the subject of this song, yes, Alex is really into vampires and everything and I think he is deeply inspired by Anne Rice. And I also think that this song is based on interview with a vampire.
Don't yall think its possible | Reviewer: Kevin | 12/19/08
Don't you think it even slightly possible that there music is metaphorical?
i mean to be honest its more likly that alex puts the lyrics into a state that is both cryptic and entertaining....
so sure maybe he really is just singing about what would happen if he were a vampire.. or maybe not.
Interview With The Vampire | Reviewer: Sehena | 6/30/08
It's about Louis from Interview With The Vampire.
That much is clear. At least to me it is.
It's about his struggle with his blood lust.
At least I think it is. Then again I've never been any good at interperating songs.
The Crimson | Reviewer: Unknown | 5/26/08
the second single from "The Curse", "The Crimson" starts off with a clean guitar and Brandon's Hi-Hats. The first verse has the intro played throughout it, with some double bass from from Brandon behind it. Alex screams this and the second part of the verse. The chrous features Brandon singing with Alex screaming somewhat over it. The second verse is much the same as the first, but the rythym does not change at all, whereas in the second part of the first verse it does slightly. Another chorus follows, which is the same as the first. A breakdown proceeds to steal the song. One of "Atreyu's" finest in my opinion. A second breakdown, or a part two if you will follows. Brandon sings and Alex later screams "Just live and breathe, try not to die again." Another chorus later and the song comes to a close. The lyrical aspect of "The Crimson" is all about exploring vampire immortality. This is one of my favorite songs on the album, and of theirs overall. 5/5

Talking to God? well Agnostic theists talk to God... see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agnostic_theism
but they aren't christian and there is many other faiths besides christians. Hey even the popular christian Satan talks to God... Maybe hes a christian.... oh and you christians favorite secular rock band Creed.... they Agnostic Theists, just cause the word God is mentioned doesn't give you the right to claim them as your own. avenged sevenfold is not christian either.... they fit Agnostic Theists perfectly though. Just cause a band says God, speaks of religion, or alludes to religious ideas does not make them christian. But then again its no wonder, its this type of self important, claiming anything they want to be theirs as their own, solely to avoid haven't to accept they might actually like or be interested in something secular, is what makes most non-christians not want to join you in your beliefs.
There was a site that had an interview with Alex Varkatzas where he admitted hes totally fascinated by the concept of vampires, but that was back in 2005 that I read that, and I can't find it now, other then it being reported on nearly every Atreyu Fan site. But yeah its talking about being immortal and regretting all the things hes done. Its also an allusion to him fucking up in his regular life he stated that.
Heh oh and the chorus is astatement of "the passing 'The Blood'", that could be seen as a "lover's embrace" or "love song", if you don't think Vampiric Goth. I would say its almost like an Anne Rice embrace straight out of the novels or something you might of heard in "Interview with a Vampire".... here it is straight up in vamp speak to the normals translation:
Will you still hold me when you see what I have done? Will you still kiss me the same,[-Are you going to be mad when you find out your a living dead girl. Will you still want me when you realize that you can't go back-]
When you taste my victim’s blood?[-The victim's blood is hers, it would be on his lips cause he has to drain her and kill her first before he can revive her, her blood would be the freshest in him and when he passes his blood to her, he would really be partly giving her own blood back.-]
So crimson and red,[-of course cause its fresh, if it was old crimes, it wouldn't be crimson and red, it would be dark purple and black, dried up. Oh and it would coming from a slit wrist, hand, or finger tip right now.-]
I feel it flowing from your lips. (Crimson and red) [-He's giving himself to her, even though he don't know if she will accept him. He can feel it running down from her lips, not their lips, because hes slit his wrist or palm or finger, presumably the left hand by tradition. Vampires don't generally transfer the blood to their intended childe from their lips, but they could effectively bite their lip and do such. oh and its flowing from her lips cause usually at first the new childe attempts to reject the idea of drinking blood.-]
My heart is dead and so are you.[-A finalizing statement that they are both dead, either a. she is a vampire now too, or b. she rejected his offer and is now dead beyond recovery.-]
All and all its a rather satisfying song...
