The Cat Empire Lyrics

We started playing together as a trio in late 1999. Ollie
McGill on Rhodes, Felix Riebl on Timbales, and Ryan Monro
on Double Bass. It was sublime, and dark, funny, unique,
fantastic, bright, and moody all at the same time.

Then came a time when things started to open out. We had
been playing mostly in jazz clubs for a while, and when we
finished our early gigs, Ollie and I would go to lock up
parties and play there until the sun came up. It was
something like a music mafia, where all the best musicians
would seem to go to the same More...

------ About the song Reasonably Fine performed by The Cat Empire

I think the song is about trying to get by without being with the one you love. Realising all the day to day crap we go through and how we, as humans, wake up for another day and do it all again. And that we are all the same

------ About the song The Crowd performed by The Cat Empire

My older brother gave me a copy of the CD this is on. It took a few listens, but after awhile I began to appreciate exactly how good this group is - remarkable lyrics, and a remarkable performance of those lyrics. This was one of my favorites.

this "two shoes" album is fantastic and this song is a perfect way to kick it off. it's so much fun and has so much energy you can't help but be swallowed up in it.

this album, and therefore this song, has started off my weekend — every weekend — since i bought the CD a few years ago.

------ About the song Two Shoes performed by The Cat Empire

this band is so amazing; so f***ing fantastic; brilliant.

when i first heard the Cat Empire, it was at the Woodford Folk Festival. I must have been eleven or twelve, so memory might be a little tainted, but it was amazing. they were so good.

of all the bands i've seen live, The Cat Empire has got to be in the top five of my favourite live shows.

After the festival when i went home, i hunted everywhere until i bought the album "Two Shoes". It's a great album, but nothing beats live performances, the brass (trumpets, trombones etc) are just so much more amazing when you're in the same space as them.

Oh wow, i do ramble on. But man, this guys are so f***ing awesome. I do indeedy recommend going to their gigs, or at least purchasing their albums.

beautiful music <3

One of the single greatest musical achievements to date! Long live the Cat Empire if the Cat Empire can do this ;o) Missed them live at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival one year and haven't had another chance yet. Gutted! Time yet and I'll be bringing Two Shoes for dancing!

------ About the song Miserere performed by The Cat Empire

This evening I visited a show by The Ceasar Twins. Miserere was one of the songs they used and I was completely overwhelmed by it. Ran to the technician after the show to ask the playlist. Now all I have to do is find the album...

------ About the song Miserere performed by The Cat Empire

Hai, MattFish, this song is absolutely gorgeous. I pity the people who haven't heard it. Poor mortal fools. xD I listened to it in endless repeat in Non-Sport and everyone could hear the trumpet because of the goddamn earphones I was using. Ghetto asses laughed and called it a crap song. I damned them to the depths of music hell with their doof-doof.
