Before The Cars, the members of the band began coming
together in several early forms. Ric Ocasek and Ben Orr
were the first to meet at a party in Columbus, Ohio and
they began performing as a duo, covering rock 'n roll
classics as well as performing their own material. They
refused to to the same old Top 40 routine that club owners
expected of a young band.

After deciding that Boston would be a better place to break
into the music business, Ric Ocasek and Benjamin Orr
relocated there. It was here that they met Greg Hawkes, who
had studied at Berklee, and the three were the first to
work together in a folk band called Milkwood. They put out
one album entitled "How's the Weather". It's very different
from what then became the Cars in both the look and the
music More...

    Review about The Cars

Love this song. | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Drive performed by The Cars

This is one of my favorite '80s songs. However, I normally wouldn't post a review. I just had to write one to say that Anonymous' post makes no sense at all. I'm pretty sure he is the one on meth...

------ About the song It's All I Can Do performed by The Cars

You said it all Greg, one of my favs is when "moving in stereo" transitions into "all mixed up". The Cars were one of the bands to usher in the techno age, while maintaining a rock image. Whatever instrument they played was precision, crisp and clear. A real good canidate for 420 happy hour,LOL

------ About the song Drive performed by The Cars

I just broke up with this bomb hot chick because she tried to get me to do glass with her. I had to act like I didn't like it anymore because a chick on meth is most likely a dirt hole. I mean crazy girl sex is awesome as hell but you don't want to keep her as you're girl. Plus the freak was a mom. Drive is her favorite song. Done. Like I can't find another slut to fuck ? This is cali baby. I love La.

Thoughts on All Mixed Up | Reviewer: Kelly Matthews
------ About the song All Mixed Up performed by The Cars

The last track on the self titled debut album from The Cars. Not a song that comes to mind immediately when the band's name is mentioned, but to overlook this one would be a shame. Ben Orr delivers just what this song needed, straight on the mark vocals. The big backing vocals set this song off. They saved the best for last with an ending saxophone solo that was very tasteful and left me wanting more.

One of the best Cars songs | Reviewer: Greg W.
------ About the song It's All I Can Do performed by The Cars

Just had to say, I think this is one of the greatest Cars songs. The instrumentation - keyboards, guitars, drums all just fit. Also, Ric Ocasek shows he's better than your average rock lyricist in this one. The Cars really were best in their earliest period. Just beautiful.

the bassest told a friend, and the friend told me | Reviewer: jason
        ------ About artist/band The Cars

    Great Song | Reviewer: Carl
------ About the song I Got A Lot On My Head performed by The Cars

I first heard this song in the late 70's. I had no idea who the Cars were but I knew I needed to hear other songs that they had. I was addicted. Candy-O is probably my all time favorite album.

You might think | Reviewer: Genna
------ About the song You Might Think performed by The Cars

You might think I'm crazy but i'm still loving this song after all these years. Yeah it's been around for a long time but i just heard it on the radio and it still sounds goooood to me. Delirious! But then I've always been a fan of the Cars anyway..Who's gonna drive me home tonight? Rick Ocasek Yeah

the original cars... | Reviewer: shawn spicer
        ------ About artist/band The Cars

i remember the cars from the late seventies, when i was fourteen and hanging out with my best friend kenny. he always cruised cause he had a licence. we cruized in kenny's 79 pinto, sharper than shit!, brand new, emerald green with knock-off basket rims and straight chrome rims when the knock-off wires were removed!
the car was totally sharp, but the cars coming through those jenson six by nines were even sharper! miss those days!!!

    cars | Reviewer: Tammi Bunker
        ------ About artist/band The Cars

I think Ric Ocasek really needs to reconsider rejoining the band because I heard the new cars album and its not the same I like the cars since I was 10 yrs and now I am 34 yrs old. The new cars album is not the same w/o Ric Ocasek

I"m in touch with your world | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song I'm In Touch With Your World performed by The Cars

Excellent, underrated number from their first album. I believe it's the flipside to "Just What I Needed," or was it "Best Friend's Girl".
    Anyway, a very cool song.

This song | Reviewer: Car rocker21
------ About the song My Best Friend's Girl performed by The Cars

ROCKS....tho it seems like hes stalking the girl.....staring at her all the time and looking at her and stuff

    Great Song!!!!! | Reviewer: Mark
------ About the song You're All I've Got Tonight performed by The Cars

This song is the best one by this band, and one of the most underrated songs, because of the great tempo, the bass drum, and the guitars. Not to mention, Ric Ocasek's voice sets a great tone for the lyrics of the song. All of these are the ingredients of a classic tune!!!!!

    Freaking awesome | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Just What I Needed performed by The Cars

The Cars are one of the greatest songs ever. This song in particular shows the power of their song writing skills and synched melodies. If you don't have this album, buy it!!

Musical Pop Art | Reviewer: Jeff Ringrose
------ About the song Misfit Kid performed by The Cars

Shimmering 60's guitar chords, a nice quick, wailing pop guitar solo, and zippy keyboard beeps and blurbs along with a peppy, almost nervous beat, this song describes my teenage years. One of my favorites from the Cars, from the "Panarama" album, it kicks off the second side of what was a great, underrated album from a band whose commercial hits overshadows their b-sides and collective work. Great lyrics.

The Cars | Reviewer: Jeff Mosiondz
        ------ About artist/band The Cars

The Cars are a great band they just sound awsome. Even compaired to the music of 2005 the sound just as good or even better. But i guess its just what your intersted in. Their music will live on forever!
