The Boss Lyrics - Diana Ross

Review The Song (11)

Fancy me
Thought I had my degree
In life and how love
Ought to be a run
I had a one step plan to prove it
Guide in my pocket for fools
Folly and fun
Love had to show me one thing

I was so right (so right)
So right
Thought I could turn emotion
On and off
I was so sure
So sure (I was so sure)
But love taught me
Who was, who was, who was the boss

I'd defy
Anyone who claimed that I
Didn't control
Whatever moved in my soul
I could tempt
Touch delight
Just because you fell for me
Why should I feel uptight
Love had to show me one thing

I was so right (so right)
So right
Thought I could turn emotion
On and off
I was so sure
So sure (I was so sure)
But love taught me
Who was, who was, who was the boss

Love taught me
Taught me
Taught me
Taught me

I was so right (so right)
So right
Thought I could turn emotion
On and off
I was so sure
So sure (I was so sure)
But love taught me
Who was, who was, who was the boss
(Taught me who was, who was the boss)

She truly is a queen <3 The song is of so much personal importance but her elegance, style and quality show us everytime how timeless she is and how the person belongs there where she stands. Amazing artist, catches your heart and soul <3

This song brings tears of joy to my eyes whenever
I hear it...first your feet start tappin' then the legs
start movin, then you're dancing! Reminiscing of
innocent childhood love. The memories, Thanks
Diana and all of the contributors to this wonderful
creation!

Spectacular! I wasn't even born when this song came out and I only discovered it recently but it's truly one of Diana's finest and most powerful performances! Along with Upside Down and I'm Coming Out it is my favorite beat! I love how Miss Ross has still the ability to rock every single performance she gives and the audience goes crazy for her! Long live La Divine Diana Ross

I heard this song 4 months again and Loved it but, didn't know who the artist was To finally figure it out today is a relief because the song was always playing in my mind ! This song is one of the best. Music is just not the same today. Long live songs like this that have true melody! Thank you.

The Boss...Fierce and Flawless! | Reviewer: Chef Michael | 8/15/08

I was a kid (11 yrs old) when this song came out and instantly, I fell in love with it. The arrangement of the horns, strings and lyrics were hypnotic. Ashford & Simpson made Ross sing to the top of her vocal chords. Listen to her hit those high notes. Never before had Ross reached into her high register. And let's not talk about the cover of the album. Again...flawless! There are other cuts like 'Once In The Morning' and my other favorite 'No One Gets The Prize' that should have been released as a 12" single, but Motown bombed on that move. They should have pushed the album to its limit, but unfortunately they didn't. On 'No One Gets The Prize' you can hear Nick Ashford screaming on the drive..."no one, no one". Fierce vocal arrangements. In 1979, Disco was hot and so was the Hustle. I remember when 'The Boss' was released on a 12" mix, people where doing the hustle and enjoying life. The Boss (album and single) is my all time favorite by Ms. Ross. It gets no better than this!

I also didn't know that it was written by Ashford and Simpson.

I heard this song this past weekend at a "All White" party. Everyone got excited...and began groovin' to it. Since then, it's been going through my head.

I agree, this has to be, by far one of her best..

classic Diana Ross Hit | Reviewer: joe | 5/6/07

This song is by far is one of Diana best hits. It was a instant smash when it first hit in 79. Nick and Valerie Simpson the hit making husband and wife has wrote so many hits for artists over the years including Diana. This song was and still is a classic hit.

Diana Ross The Boss | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/9/06

This has got to be one of Diana's crowning songs. It conveys all of the life and energy she brings to her art showing that she really is The Boss.
