The Big Sleep Lyrics

Review The Song (8)Print the Lyrics
why do you cry when you know how the story ends?
how can you laugh when you know that it hurts your friends?
we've all been there once but you never left
this is me coming back to get you
I have to say goodbye to make amends
i'm not leaving this place
unless i'm leaving with you
you're the only person with a half decent heart
and i know you will put it to use
until it's gone, gone, gone
gone, gone, gone
gone, gone, gone, gone, gone, yeah

na, na, na...

and as you close your eyes for the big sleep
i hope you think of me, yeah

na, na, na...

and if you go, i'll be gone
and you'll be left alone to live your life, as you please
but someday you'll agree that i was always meant for you
and you were always meant for me and you will see: that you're impossible
you're impossible
you're impossible
you're impossible

me and mr. dylan on the ride home
we had a heart to heart about life
but neither him or me could decide for ourselves
if we wanted to outlive that night
like two children on the playground of the unconfessed souls
abandoned by our mothers and our lovers and our foes
if only we were brave enough to live the lives we stole
what a wonderful world this could be!

na, na, na...

and as you close your eyes for the big sleep
i hope you think of me, yeah

na, na, na...

and if you go, i'll be gone
and you'll be left alone to live your life, as you please
but someday you'll agree that i was always meant for you
you were always meant for me and you will see: that you're impossible
you're impossible
you're impossible
you're impossible

so how many more examples until we break?
how many sacrifices must we make?
'cause we've all been there once before
and it looks like we've returned once more
is this the beginning or the end?

the last two soldiers on the battlefield
survivors of the war
they aim at one another while their mothers beg the lord
"if you're listening, i'm missing him
so somehow bring him home
how did it come to this?"
so the soldiers lift their rifles and
they're aiming at the head
they think of their first love before they take their final breaths
and somewhere in the distance
they hear something someone said: "how did it come to this?"

and as you close your eyes for the big sleep
i hope you think of me, yeah

na, na, na...

and as you close your eyes for the big sleep
i hope you think of me, yeah

na, na, na..

Review about The Big Sleep

Don't Hate Their Fans | Reviewer: Brian | 4/2/2008

Tomas has gotten sick of his fans before, but you have to understand sometimes people get on your nerves, especially when you're a 15 year old kid (Gimp).

Fans can be idiots.

I'm quite sure they hate the idiots (just like everyone else)

they love us. | Reviewer: nicole | 11/25/2007

i actually saw streetlight for the second time two days ago, and it was absolutely mindblowing. their enthusiasm was unmatchable, and the way they looked at all of us from up on stage, one couldn't even possibly mistake them for pompous jerks.
no need to worry Ben, they actually love their fans.
i left my ticket with my best friend after the show, and he got it signed by everyone in streetlight.
and yea, that doesn't mean much, its just pen on paper, but he actually spent time talking with all of them after, and they were really appreciative of all the support, said they couldn't accomplish any of this without their fans, and that they'd never consider doing anything else for a living.

so it seems safe to say that streetlight's love for their fans is as great as their lyrical genius[:

Streetlight Manifesto really rocks, and all their songs are good =) so is this one.... and yeah much of their songs are sad, with sad lyrics.. but cuz its ska it doesnt sound sad, but just in 1 word AWESOME =) and no, i cant believe they hate their fans, espacially not when they let some fans on stage and sing the nanana part and the chorus of point counterpoint

ahhhh. | Reviewer: marshall | 6/29/2007

a few years agoi went to one of their concerts at the loft in poughkeepsie. i got to go on stage with a couple of my friends and sing the nananana part of this, and the chorus to point/counter point. it was awesome.

OMGZZZ | Reviewer: Susan | 4/19/2007

i LOVEE Streetlight Manifesto! They are any awesome band...the best ska band ever. This is one of my favorite songs by them and its so addicting you can't just listen to it once.

Tragedy never sounded so good. | Reviewer: Sam | 4/6/2007

An altogether tragic song, with tragic lyrics and a sad beat... and it sounds so good. Never before have I heard a ska band deliver such meaningful lyrics in a perfect package.

Uhm... | Reviewer: Mat | 4/4/2007

I don't know what you're talking about Ben. Every time I've met them they seemed pretty damn happy that they had a huge crowd of people moshing in front of them and shouting the chorus's along with Tomas. You sure you aren't thinking of Catch-22?

wow. | Reviewer: Ben | 2/13/2007

just great. I heard these guys hate there fans though.. I'm actually really surprised but whatever there still sick haah.
