The Ballad of You and Me and Pooneil Lyrics - Jefferson Airplane
Review The Song (4)
If you were a bird and you lived very high,
You'd lean on the wind when the breeze came by,
You'd say to the wind as it took you away,
That's where I wanted to go today"
And I do know that I need to have you around
Love like a mountain springtime,
flashing through the rivers of my mind;
it's what I feel for you.
[Armadillo] (spoken by Marty)
You and me go walking south
And we see all the world around us,
The colors blind my eyes and my mind to all but you,
And I do know that I need to have you around,
And I do, I do know that I need to have you around.
I have a house where I can go
When there's too many people around me;
I can sit and watch all the people
Down below goin' by me;
Halfway down the stair is a stair
Where I sit and think around you and me;
But I wonder will the sun still see all the people goin' by.
Will the moon still hang in the sky when I die,
When I die, when I'm high, when I die?
If you were a cloud and you sailed up there,
You'd sail on water as blue as air,
You'd see me here in the fields and say,
"Doesn't the sky look green today?"

i love the airplane! | Reviewer: robert mac | 3/22/14
i saw the JA in san francisco in june 1968 at the Avalon Ballroom. "After Bathing at Baxter's had been out only a small time. they were OUTSTANDING! they played a lot of the album istead of surrealistic. some loud, psychedelic, hippie jam band named the grateful dead shared the bill.

This is one of the best Jefferson's song, the dirty guitar of Jorma is strong even if it doesn't "hung" the melody of the song, and Grace reaches the best in some parts of the song
The Airplane's contribution to the apex of 60's drug genre | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/1/12
It seems the music of the late 60's, before and after Sgt. Pepper, changed so fast from commercial hit to underground drug emphasis that you hardly can pinpoint a date. But the Airplane hit you between the eyes with breathtaking effect - live. Their recordings were a far cry from their live shows. If you went to a show because of their recordings, you'd swear they weren't the same band on stage. They just blew you away.

I really love this song because you just feel it. It is not a song that you really think about, you just flow with the notes and rhythums.
