Tenderly Lyrics - Nat King Cole
Review The Song (1)
(Words and Music by Gross and Lawrence)
This lyrics are like performed by Natalie Cole
The evening breeze caressed the trees tenderly
The trembling trees embraced the breeze tenderly
Then you and I came wandering by
And lost in a sigh were we
The shore was kissed by sea and mist tenderly
I can't forget how two hearts met breathlessly
Your arms opened wide and closed me inside
You took my lips, you took my love so tenderly

The Album Sound ... | Reviewer: Rick Westlake | 9/4/10
Back in the 1960s, when I was a youngster, I listened to Felix Grant on WMAL in Washington, DC - that was a LONG time before "talk radio." Felix Grant's slogan was "The Album Sound," and he specialized in what we nowadays would refer to as "classic jazz" or even "smooth jazz."
"Tenderly" was his signature song, and I think I heard at least twenty-five versions of the song, from Nat King Cole to bossa-nova style.
My one regret is this: When "Smooth Jazz 105.9" came to the FM airwaves here in the mid-1990s, I wish I'd called them and asked them to play "Tenderly" - as a salute to the Original Smooth Jazz of my home town, Felix Grant of WMAL AM 63. God rest his soul and comfort it with the Yard Bird, Coltrane, and Astrid Gilberto (the Girl from Ipanema!)
