Tears Of Rage Lyrics - Bob Dylan

Review The Song (1)

We carried you in our arms
On Independence Day
And now you'd throw us all aside
And put us on our way
Oh, what dear daughter 'neath the sun
Would treat a father so
To wait upon him hand and foot
And always tell him "No?"
Tears of rage, tears of grief
Why am I the one who must be the thief ?
Come to me now, you know
We're so alone
And life is brief.

We pointed out the way to go
And scratched your name in sand
Though you just thought that it was nothing more
sponsored links
Than a place for you to stand
Now I want you to know that while you watched
You discover there was no one true
Must everybody really thought
It was a childish thing to do
Tears of rage, tears of grief
Why am I the one who must be the thief ?
Come to me now, you know
We're so alone
And life is brief.

It was all very painless
When you went out to receive
All that false instruction
Which we never could believe
And now the heart is filled with gold
As if it was a purse
But oh, what kind of love is this
Which goes from bad to worse ?
Tears of rage, tears of grief
Why am I the one who must be the thief ?
Come to me now, you know
We're so alone
And life is brief.

Tears of Rage is a very touching song, You could hear the sadness and sincerity in Bob Dylan's voice as he sings the lyrics ...."Come to me now, you know we're so alone" that help you to understand how a parent may feel when he is getting older, missing being with his son or daughter. There's something about having your own flesh and blood near you that is comforting when you are feeling alone and that "life is brief". The statement "life is brief" is something that older adults usually say, when they are looking back upon the many years they had, that have seemed to fly by. Now, when they are approaching the end of their earthly days, it makes them feel good to know their beloved sons and daughters are living on. For a daughter or son to deny honoring his parent who longs to have them near when they are very close to the time of death, may bring guilt. However, they may get into denial, because of being self-centered or too busy to make time for their father's or mother's longing to see them. That is where this next verse comes in "Why am I the one who must be the thief". The child projects that feeling on to his parent, when actually, the parent is only being a parent with parental feelings and rights according to the Holy Scriptures which say, "Honor thy Mother and thy Father that it may be well with you. and that you may live long upon the earth" Exodus 20:12, Matthew 19:19 It's too late, to be there for them after they die.
