Love love is a verb
Love is a doing word
Fearless on my breath
Gentle impulsion
Shakes me makes me lighter
Fearless on my breath
Teardrop on the fire
Fearless on my breath
Night night of matter
Black flowers blossom
Fearless on my breath
Black flowers blossom
Fearless on my breath
Teardrop on the fire
Fearless on my breath
Water is my eye
Most faithful mirror
Fearless on my breath
Teardrop on the fire of a confession
Fearless on my breath
Most faithful mirror
Fearless on my breath

Review about Tear Drop its rocks | Reviewer: samantha tallon | 8/29/09
This is one of my most favourtie songs of all time. And to clarify the abortive video rumour, the trio have said it is simply about the beauty of life, its realistic, but a little off scale. jsut to put your mind at ease, just relax and enjoy the video and song about life, i personally think its a touching and beautiful combo. And the baby is just getting ready to be born near the end, and yet again the size scale isnt the best. xxx
I love it... | Reviewer: Chrisitan | 6/9/09
I feel so ignorant looking at the lyrics now... I've always thought that it says "You're totally in the Dark." at the end. It made sense to me.... Listen to it again. Listen to the last verse. You might hear it too...
actually the song was performed by liz frasser of the Cocteau twins...although beth sounds eerily like liz. The song reminds me of a battle against oppression and the struggle to do so, but it's the perserverance of an individual that voices their emotions. As for the reccomendations of downloading some portishead, it's a must for every iPod out there. Preferably the self titled album.
The song has less to do with abortion than you think Christina. The purpose for the baby in the film clip was simply because Beth Gibbons that sang this particular track (also lead singer of Portishead) was pregnant at the time of recording... So I suggest if you enjoyed her voice, try downloading (legally of course) some Portishead music...

I love this song for its angelic quality and ethereal atmosphere, but I was extremely surprised when I watched the music video for "Teardrops". Judging from the video, the song is written in the perspective of a fetus that is awaiting the moment it is to be aborted. In other words, this song is an ode to abortion and appears to hint at the opinion that abortion is a cruel and undeserving fate since it portrays the fetus as a strong individual who is just trying to live an innocent life with no malicious designs on anyone.
From that moment on, whenever I hear this song I think about abortions and consequently, abortions being a controversial topic, I feel slightly uncomfortable listening to it.
Nonetheless, "Teardrops" is a beautiful song with raw emotion and fully capable of affecting anyone who listens to it.
mhmm. | Reviewer: maria | 1/5/08
this is a gorgeous song; the lyrics are simple, but their effect is enough, and the music that goes with this song is perfectly matched to the mood that the lyrics give. the flow is very gentle and it presents no obvious emotions, and this can be interpreted however the listener prefers. for me, personally, it is relaxing, even though i feel that the lyrics convey some bitterness- for what, i haven't the foggiest, apologies.
like another reviewer mentioned, an instrumental version is used as the opening song on house MD, and even if it had the lyrics, the song is perfectly suited to the show. that is completely irrelevant, so sorry. xD
This song is amazing. You can feel, flow with the music. Make it act as one with you. I love it, and always makes me think of this girl... :]

a piece of perfection that will only be justified when it is looked back on in 100 years time as a defining point in human musical history.
