Talk Shows on Mute Lyrics
Artist(Band):Incubus
Take a bow, pack on powder,
Wash 'em out with buzzing lights,
Pay an audience to care,
'Impress me' personality.
Still and transfixed,
The electric sheep are dreaming of your face.
Enjoy you from the chemical,
Comfort of America.
Come one, come all
Into 1984
Yeah, three, two, one
Lights, Camera, Transaction
Quick, your time is almost up.
Make all forget that they're the moth,
Edging in towards the flame,
Burn into obscurity.
Still and transfixed,
The electric sheep are dreaming up your fate.
And judge you from the card castle,
Comfort of America.
Come one, come all
Into 1984
Yeah, three, two, one
Lights, Camera... yeah.
Come one, come all
Into 1984
Yeah, three, two one
Lights, Camera, Transaction
Lights, Camera, Transaction
Come one, come all
Into 1984
Yeah, three, two, one
Lights, Camera, Transaction
Your foundation is canyoning,
Fault lines should be worn with pride.
I hate to say, so much more,
You're so much more,
Endearing with the sound turned off.

Review about Talk Shows on Mute
Great song! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/18/2008I love the wordplay here. You can actually read the lyrics two ways, or at least I can. It's quite plausible I'm insane, though.
:p
Agreed with NWO | Reviewer: Jackie | 1/1/2008
Yeah, I agree with the guy who was talking about the Canadian and Mexican borders being removed, very smart american, if you would like to know more about this song, I highly recommend watching Zeigeist, available for free at www.zeitgeistmovie.com
Incredible | Reviewer: Matto | 9/3/2007
Brandon said in an interview that he was on an airplane and he was playing that game where you dub over a talk show and make up characters and everything. He said that it got him thinking about a time where the television interacted with you. Thats all i rememeber about this one.
this song is the vision | Reviewer: Connor | 7/21/2007

it's all i have to said about the song, and i agree whit the last post i tink they were talking about the brainwhas on those times but i will have to read that novels to see what to they were refering to
explaination | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/3/2007
I think the song is speaking out against television and how brainwashed/desensitized people have become because of it. Much like doublespeak and the Government did to the people in 1984. I have not the Philip K. Dick book however, so I cannot explain that one.
book | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/11/2007
The 1984 reference obviously is in reference to 1984 by george orwell, and the electric sheep may be from "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" by Philip K Dick. This book was made into the movie "Blade Runner" I can't seem to find any connection with the lyrics and that book though.

simply put, brandon boyd is a genius. all of incubu's songs not only have an awesome sound, but the actual lyrics are equally as impressive.
I love this song! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/2/2006
I think this is one of Incubus' best songs, actually. The sound is just phenomenal and the lyrics are fantastic---it's pretty different from their usual beat. I hadn't even realized the reference to the novel "1984" until my brother brought it home and we talked about it. You'd look at the "electic sheep" lyrics in a completely different way if you've read it.
Good song sorta reminds me of... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/15/2004
Catchy lyrics, smooth beat, yeah it's a good song. Is the mentioning of 1984 and electric sheep refering to two certain books? I don't really know or listen to Incubus but I'm gonna check out their other songs after this one.
