Take, take what you want,
Take it all, i know you want my soul
And feel, what you want me to feel
But i will only conceal just a little more
From you
You're all alone, you're all alone
And you draggin everyone in
All alone and you don't even understand
Don't even understand
So i'll obey, listen to what you say
Cos you are in full control now
But you're so scared, so scared of losing it all somehow
You're all alone, you're all alone
And you draggin everyone in
All alone and you don't even understand
Don't even understand
See if you don't got the time to show just a little respect
You won't get any in return
And if you don't got time to have an open ear
You won't have anything to learn
Don't know why you don't even understand
Don't know why you don't even understand
Don't know why you don't even understand
Once, a long time ago, i heard The Doors' 'Roadhouse blues' and it changed my life, music became important rather than just something to pass time. I discovered the blues (or real rock and roll), I became a musician as a result of that song. John Butler trios' "take" is a song in that vein, it is the best rock and roll song i have ever heard, i have heard quite a lot of great songs that just don't come anywhere near this song in terms of craftmanship. 'Take' is an inspiring song that is bringing me back into playing live music. If i can write something that captures the essence of a good rock and roll song anywhere near as well as 'Take' does, i will be a happy little muso. Just like 'Roadhouse', it is changing my life.
