Sting & Police Synchronicity II Lyrics

Last updated: 10/09/2013 08:34:42 AM

Another suburban family morning
Grandmother screaming at the wall
We have to shout above the din of our Rice Crispies
We can't hear anything at all
Mother chants her litany of boredom and frustration
But we know all her suicides are fake
Daddy only stares into the distance
There's only so.much heartache he can take
Many miles away
Something crawls from the slime
At the bottom of a dark Scottish lake

Another industrial ugly morning
The factory belches filth into the sky
He walks unhindered through the picket lines today
He doesn't think to wonder why
The secretaries pout and preen like
cheap tarts in a red light street
But all he ever thinks to do is watch
And every single meeting with his so-called superior
Is a humiliating kick in the crotch
Many miles away
Something crawls to the surface
Of a dark Scottish loch

Another working day has ended
Only the rush hour hell to face
Packed like lemmings into shiny metal boxes
Contestants in a suicidal race
Daddy grips the wheel and stares alone into the distance
He knows that something somewhere has to break
He sees the family home now looming in his headlights
The pain upstairs that makes his eyeballs ache
Many miles away
There's a shadow on the door
Of a cottage on the shore
Of a dark Scottish lake
Many miles away, many miles away

Scottish lake | Reviewer: Mr.lemming | 10/9/13

A realistic view of the negative side of everyday life. The positives are overlooked here. Whatever...

The lines about the "Scottish lake"... what is the meaning of this part? Or has everyday life dulled me too much?

Deressing, but probably accurate. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/23/13

Gotta have an ultimate reason for living or ANYONE will eventually feel like the folks described here. People need to connect with their creator to understand the mess we've created on this planet... such a connection gives us the energy and will to know His ultimate positive plan for us all. Hint: Jesus is the way, the truth and the life!!

Women feel the same | Reviewer: Bebbi | 6/12/13

Not just Daddy feels this way. Women have that terrible headache too. Women sit in traffic too. Women feel that same emptiness too..going no where fast. And, women work just as hard and just as frustrated as men. It is what we have created in our society. It is our serfdom.

Daddy hates his life, family, job, etc. Hate may be a strong word. Perhaps better stated bored with his wife, kids are obnoxious, work sucks, boss is an idiot. Lester Berman (Kevin Spacey) is a perfect example of Daddy's frustration.
