------ About the song The Odyssey performed by Symphony X

Awesome song-- my only issue with it is its usage of certain deities.

Jove (Jupiter) is the Roman name and equivalent of Zeus. Odysseus and Homer knew him as Zeus, not Jove.

Same thing with Minerva. Roman name for Athena. The Odyssey makes endless references to both Athena and Zeus, and zero mention of Minerva and Jove, because those names are from a totally different culture and language.

If you're going to write an epic song about epic mythology, get your research right guys! Wikipedia existed in 2003!

I loved this song the first time I heard it, to me progressive metal gives most other types of metal and Symphony X definitely delivers. The lyrics tell a story and it is one of many great songs out there.

------ About the song Awakenings performed by Symphony X

Besides the fact that this is an outstanding song, with a beautiful melody, and awesome guitar riffing, the lyrics really speak to me on a personal level, and it has helped me through some rough times in life. It's a reminder that we all need to cease the opportunities in life, or we will live a life in regret.

I disagree, though I DO love Dream heater, I would have to say the end of this song [Champion of Ithica] definately beats the end of In The Presence Of Enemies.
The end is just so passionate, and you can just imagine the herioc sature of Homer.
It's a masterpiece and I freaking LOVE it!

------ About the song The Sacrifice performed by Symphony X

This song just goes to show how versatile Symphony X is. They have the ability to switch it up and can just as easily blast you with sheer awesome as they can slow down and serenade you with amazing lyrics.

------ About the song The Odyssey performed by Symphony X

The greatest part of this song is the ability to keep you spellbound through out the entire 24 minutes. With subtle and not so subtle switches in elements of the music, each minute offers something new. I don't think there will be too many songs of this caliber. A must-listen, from start to finish.
