Lynyrd Skynyrd Sweet Home Alabama Lyrics

Last updated: 08/11/2013 06:13:08 AM

One ... two ... three ...

Turn it up

Big wheels keep on turnin'
Carryin' me home to see my kin
Singin' songs about the southland
I miss Alabamy once again and I think its a sin ... yes

Well I heard Mister Young sing about her
Well I heard ol' Neil put her down
Well I hope Neil Young will remember
A Southern man don't need him around anyhow

Sweet home Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet home Alabama
Lord I'm comin' home to you

In Birmingham they love the governor
Boo, boo, boo
Now we all did what we could do
Now Watergate does not bother me
Does your conscience bother you? ... tell the truth

Sweet home Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet home Alabama ... oh, yes
Lord I'm comin' home to you ... here I come ... Alabama

Now Muscle Shoals has got the Swampers
And they've been known to pick a song or two
Lord they get me off so much
They pick me up when I'm feelin' blue ... now how about you

Sweet home Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet home Alabama
Lord I'm comin' home to you

Sweet home Alabama
Oh sweet home
Where the skies are so blue ... and the governor's true
Sweet home Alabama
Lord I'm coming home to you
Yeah, yeah
My ... Montgomery's got the answer

AGAIN THE GOOD DIE YOUNG by Robin J.Zackery | Reviewer: Robin J. Zackery | 8/11/13

Lynyrd Skunyrd was a top band when I lived in Tennessee in the 1970's. I remember they played live at the giant downtown Nashville Stadium, as did ZZ Top that year. They were true rock stars that could have had many years of success. The song. "Dead or Alive" screamed across the charts and band had real "lookers", hip and handsome.

Sadly, due to a plane crash, they left us right after their album took off. They were the kind of guys who made a huge impression on true Southern American Rock/Country enthusiasts.

When their lives were taken with their new carreers, the nightmere reignighted, once again, another great loss to the music business and music lovers throughout the world. Will we ever be able to expect great talents to live long lives, or will we always be plagued by the early deaths of so many music legends? .

greatest fuckin band ever | Reviewer: darrern obrien | 8/4/12

Lynyrd skynyrd sang songs of their everyday lives then and still now.they still rock, every color, man or woman, boy or girl loves skynyrd in one way or the other.everybody likes different things, leave what we love alone.our southern music, confederate flags, down home laid back style.we love our lives and music the way we do,,,not yalls way.skynyrd said it best in the song all i can do is write about it

Great Song | Reviewer: Emma | 11/18/11

I'm only 12 and people say I should have been born in the 20th century, as I can barely stand pop and rap today. Very few singers or songwriters today add up to 20th century music. Anybody with talent is shot down for today's music.

I also love classic rock and think you are spot on about pop music today. To me it's crap. It's not even real music anymore. It's just noises produced by a computer. The Who's song: long live rock said "long live rock... Be it dead or alive." I agree, long live rock but, I'm afraid it's dead. The last great bands were #1 nirvana. Then the foo fighters, STP, Alice in chains, etc. I think alternative was rocks last hoorah.

Great Song | Reviewer: Corey | 10/10/08

really, one of the better songs out there. two bad it was sort of shadowed by the verse about the govener. i never really got that... were they being racist or did Brigamham not like what he said about them?

Love this sound! | Reviewer: Rob | 12/1/07

hi there,
this song and also the song freebird are so well brought by this group!
Love the southern sound in them.
It's not the sound you hear here in Eindoven (the Netherlands) every day, but it realy gets to me!
Sure is one of my favorits...

This song is one of the best songs I have ever heard. I may only be 15 but from the stuff that they have on the radio now is rubbish. I think that all young people of today should be exposed to old stuff like this song. This song has givin me and my dad something to talk about
