This was my favorite song for a while. I kinda forgot about it, and it just came on on my iPod on shuffle. It almost made me cry; I had to look up these lyrics to make sure I heard it right. This song holds a special place in my heart. I went through a painful breakup almost a year ago with a guy I was crazy for. I tried to make myself be interested in other guys ("struggled through a stranger")but it never felt the same. He tried to make it sound better than it was- for us to be apart. But it didn't soften the blow. I love him, and I like other guys, but I never feel this much affection for anyone else. For a long time, I felt like this chorus: I couldn't laugh, I had no where to go to be alone, and eventually cried myself out. I've picked myself back up, but sometimes it still hurts. Gotta love Sugarland for this song, my feelings put to music.

wow...this is exactly whats been going on...thing is, they are divorced. Have been for months. The ex-wife feels like the divorce was a mistake though (even though she is the one who pushed us to be together...weird I know)..Now she wont leave him alone, and its got him all confused. We've been best friends for almost 8 years, and I've been in love with him for 7 of those years. It's so hard to just walk away, but recently I feel like I need to just to be able to function in every day things, like work and family matters....I dont know what to do..

I remember the night I met him,russell a fine ass biker that had a girlfriend of 6yrs and a boy with her. I remember because the feelings were instantly insane he was perfect. I grew up in the biker scene my dad was one n I rode with him all the time,he passed away n then I met russ. We were great together we first went to a rally in galveston,tx we had a blast together and he said he wished his wife was like me n wanted to leave her for me. Its 7 mnths later and we still talk nothings been persued but our bond and feelings keep growing. And every lyric to ths song stands to our situation and I made him listen to it one night in my car at the bar. I don't know what to do anymore its driving me crazy! I love him. We ride and have a great time all the time. He evn invites me to his house when his wife is away and we hang out with all his friends. He makes it obvious to everyone we are a thing. His wife evn knows?? I don't get it I think she denyse the fact??

This song has given me the strength to tell the man I've been in love with to just go. All he has used me for is his own selfish desires, even when he has had a woman. Its hard to have to see him and know we won't share that physical bond and its hard to see him and look at him, but not have him look at me. Whenever I get too sad I just think of this song and all the wrong he has done and it gives m,e strength to get up off my knees.

I've 'been' with this guy for almost 2 years now. He's married. We messed around prior to his wedding. He told me he didn't want to be married to her and all of his friends told him not to do it. But he wouldn't back out. He got married a year ago in June. Im tortured everyday by the thought of him with her but I couldn't stand it if I left him. He swears he loves me and honestly he's the best guy I have ever had. He's amazing. I told him if he wasn't divorced by my next birthday I would end it and make sure she knew exactly what he was doing. I love him but I also think about her. I couldn't imagine what she must be going through her husband doesn't love her at all. He doesn't even talk to her unless he has to. I think he is in it for the money. He has to stay married in order to get an inherance from his grandpa. I don't know what to do. Do I wait for him? Do I leave him and not look back? I even made him listen to this song. He just looked at me with the saddest eyes and hugged me.

I know what you mean Susan. The first time I heard this song, I felt tears well up and I had a lump in my throat. The more she sang, the more the tears came. I have no idea why. Just something that spoke to me through the song. Jennifer Nettles has such a strong and powerful voice that she makes you feel what she is singing by the passion and emotion she puts into it herself. God has certainley bless her and Kristian Busch.

Everyone keeps saying this isn't a remake but it's EXACTLY the same melody as Lonestar's "I'm Already There" so much so that when I heard Sugarland's "Stay" I knew I had already heard the song. Nettles may have changed the words but she certainly copied Lonestar's melody.

I can relate to this song, not just because it fits the scenario of the "other woman", but the main theme is about a person realizing that their self-worth is worth more than "settling for less than what they deserve"....it's about being strong enough to let go, even though it's going to hurt...for awhile....it's about doing what is right for you and also about truly giving up on something that is not making you happy. We all deserve somebody as committed to us as we are to them and if that isn't there, then it isn't worth it....and NO...nobody wants to share, nobody wants to live a life of being unsure...and quite frankly, it's weak to allow anyone to control your happiness that much. Suck it up and move on......
