Adam and John Nolan weren't having good chemistry anymore
and John wanted to persue a more piano/vocal driven band.
Another person guitarist from Taking Back Sunday split from
the band also to help create thenew band. With the help of
Michelle (John's sister) and the drummer from Breaking
Pangea they were ready to start Straylight Run.

Because of the previous reputation of taking back sunday,
the band quickly flourished and started creating songs like
"The tension and the terror" Due to some legal recording
issues they decided to give out songs through their website
which can be downloaded at www.straylightrun.com. They
played at Surf and Skate and having many fans including
myself cheering them on.

Most songs have the piano as the main instrument either

great song | Reviewer: just someone you used to know
------ About the song Mistakes We Knew We Were Making performed by Straylight Run

words cannot describe the beauty of this song. it speaks to the unknown depths of my soul. every time i hear it, i think of a friend of mine who died in a car crash. maybe one day we'll both "wake up and laugh at how stupid we used to be"

------ About the song Hands In The Sky (Big Shot) performed by Straylight Run

i have 2 say it remind me WW2 bcuz there were million of men w/ blank faces Terrified, blind, and wait to die,
I wonder when they'll come get me,
and all the hungaryan police would say 2 the jews "Put your hands in the sky,"
He says, "Give it up boy, give it up or your gonna die,
You'll get a bullet in the back of the neck,
In the back of the neck right between the eyes."

------ About the song Sympathy For The Martyr performed by Straylight Run

I think that this is someone being as brutally honest as they can. This is him, spilling his self out onto a sheet of paper. Ever hear of a mind map? this is his.
    Sounds a bit like mine.
this song has helped me put alot of things into perspective.

re: meaning | Reviewer: the explainer
------ About the song Hands In The Sky (Big Shot) performed by Straylight Run

I'm pretty sure the song is about police brutality

"Living lives just like deer in headlights,
Terrified, blind, and wait to die,
I wonder when they'll come get me,"

or it could be how american police force their way into other countries to "help" but end up staying.

    "It never ends, never ends
We want to, have to, need to
And we'll tell you when they're hungry again,"

and the lines that you put up i think are just the way of pointing out their police also "Millions of men with blank faces," could be alluding to that to

    Meaning? | Reviewer: Sidd Skeltonn
------ About the song Hands In The Sky (Big Shot) performed by Straylight Run

Can anyone give their idea on what the song is about?

Big shot screaming, "Put your hands in the sky,"
He says, "Give it up boy, give it up or your gonna die," Especially on that part.

I have an idea of the meaning behind it but I just want to get others opinions.

    Amazing | Reviewer: Guy
------ About the song Sympathy For The Martyr performed by Straylight Run

The songs amazing. I know you all take your own little, meanings from it and what not. But think of it this way,
"Never getting help, doesn't mean your brave"

Maybe he's tired of someone always taking everything on their own. Thats, what a martyr is, in a sense.

Its kind of holding the good guy syndrome against someone. I don't know, thats what i take from this song. Thats why Straylight Run is amazing. We all get different meanings.

------ About the song Sympathy For The Martyr performed by Straylight Run

I think this song is honest, but still cute. Almost like the lyricist is just tired of the particular person, but still loves them. In some weird, quirky way, it's adorable. The single & band are pretty stellar too <3

The Needles the space | Reviewer: Jenn
------ About the album The Needles The Space performed by Straylight Run

Straylight Run is back with a much anticipated follow up album to their self titled disc, and the Prepare to be Wrong EP. The new album, The needles The Space doesn't just pick up where the band left off, but takes them to a whole new level. The 13 songs that make up this album (though many online deals promote acoustic and covers as bonus tracks) take the listener on a lyrical journey through the minds of John Nolan and Michelle DaRosa.

Stand out tracks, "Soon we'll be living in the Future" (the current single), and "Who will Save us Now" question, religion, war, and the general arrogance that can be seen simply by turning on the news in the US.

"How do I fix my head" deals with the current craze for plastic surgery, and morphing yourself so you fit in with the quote/unquote beautiful celebrities and models you see on the screen.

This album is worth purchasing for the step that it takes. The instrumentation is different. The themes are different. You will not find this album sung by every artist on the radio right now. They take a risk and pull it off in a way only they could do.

    Weird? | Reviewer: Brendon
------ About the song Hands In The Sky (Big Shot) performed by Straylight Run

In this statement, im not trying to make straylight run look bad. In fact they rock. Out loud. But I just wanted to say something. You know how that dude killed 32 people at Virginia Tech? The Korrean dude named Cho? Well, the night before that, straylight run preformed this song at Virginia Tech. Weird, huh? "You'll get a bullet in the back of your neck, in the back of your neck, Right between your eyes". Freaakyy!!!

But, its not their fault Cho did that.
    Whatever. Rock on straylight.
