Have you ever loved someone but there are just so many little things that dont match up but you want so badly for them to just get it? I think this fits that perfectly. The finger, knuckle, elbow, and shoulder deep references simply refer to wanting to get a hold of that persons passion and try to find it but the further he/she reaches to find it, the farther they get past their own will to try anymore. This song has now become my new favorite tool song because of this meaning that I have concocted for it. You must create your own meaning to the songs. I feel with music, actually anything, meaning should be somewhat clear and not have 40 interpretations. I feel like I am reading a Nostra dumb-ass quatrain. These words are so "brilliantly abstract" that they have minimized their value to the point where they can be applied to almost anything. In other words I think it's ridiculous when a band has written lyrics so cryptic that no one knows what they mean and then tries to decipher the meaning to tell others who have no idea what it means.
