Steppenwolf Lyrics

In the chaotic world of rock 'n' roll, in which the
lifespan of most bands can be measured in terms of a few
years or a few months, John Kay and Steppenwolf have
emerged as one of rock's most enduring and respected bands,
delivering hard-hitting, personally-charged music for more
than three decades.

In the late 1960s, Steppenwolf embodied that era's social,
political and philosophical restlessness, building an
impressive body of edgy, uncompromising rock 'n' roll that
retains its emotional resonance more than three decades

------ About the song Earschplittenloudenboomer performed by Steppenwolf

Great lyrics fitting a great music track by one of the hero bands of hard rock, even heavy metal and long forgotten "Acid Rock" but they never make any list of best bands. "Born to be Wild" makes some lists when it and the movie chronicled a whole generation of those of us who have brains the have been rewired. The original Steppenwolf. Best ever.

------ About the song Monster/Suicide/America performed by Steppenwolf

I remember trying to get a radio station to play Monster, back in Michigan a long long time ago. They said they could not. What happened to free speech, as you know the monster is still watching and we still have not done a thing.I think it was Thomas Jefferson who said we need a Revolution every 20 years to keep Government Honest.Gee what happened.Did we just leave it to the next guy in line. Please think about your children and there's and there's.

I remember this song got a lot of airplay when I lived in Stillwater, OK in the fall of 1969...I never knew the words to this song...I'm now amazed to know what it is talking about..40 years later and it seems like it fits what America is like today.

One of their most powerful and profound tunes | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song The Wall performed by Steppenwolf

Kay had done a number of earlier songs that alluded to his Wall experience, but finally he gets to tell the real story and it is a powerful one. The updated 80s rock sound is an extension rather than reboot of their classic sound, and supports the song's powerful message perfectly. The events of 1989 are what gave conclusion to this sad tale, and it's hard not to be moved by it. Everyone should hear this song, even if you hate Magic Carpet Ride.

------ About the song Sookie Sookie performed by Steppenwolf

One of the first albums I ever bought was a Steppenwolf album. This song fascinated me. I used to perform it in a band, but as was often the case, we got some of the words wrong (or did we?) In the line:"do the Baltimore Jig" I had been singing "do the bottomojee" which, if you think about it, makes more sense when you watch the chicks dance! Oh, Gee!

Let's Resurrect this! | Reviewer: Eric Bard
------ About the song Monster/Suicide/America performed by Steppenwolf

It is time for someone to ressurrect this song! It is so relevent and wise. Let's all try in our own ways to get it listened to. Then the youth may have a chance to halt the military-industrial-complex's neocon lackeys destruction of
our freedoms through mendacious fear.

------ About the song Monster/Suicide/America performed by Steppenwolf

I was a teenager in the late 60's/early 70's when this music first was released. It was written as a biting commentary on yhe cyclic nature of the American governmental system.

The irony as I see it is that we continue to follow in the groove laid down by the founders of our nation.

When the first colonists came to America, they took what they wanted from the natives, and enslaved others to become a labor force for thier profit.

Today we invade a foreign country in a thinly disguised bid for the oil production there and enslave millions of legal and illegal aliens with low paying jobs.

In my opinion the Monster is still on the loose.

one of the deepest, most under-rated love ballads of all time. very uncharacteristic of johm kay and the band; yet very insightful. how many of us could learn if we listened?

------ About the song Monster/Suicide/America performed by Steppenwolf

I agree it's too bad this song didn't get more air time, as it's message and melody still fit and are still are applicable some 35 years later. Isn't amazing how some things never change, especially when we are talking about the Government?
