Stay Together For The Kids Lyrics - Blink-182

Review The Song (25)

it's hard to wake up, when the shades have been pulled shut
This house is haunted, it's so pathetic, it makes no sense at all
I'm ripe with things to say, the words rot and fall away
What stupid poem could fix this home, I'd read it every day

So here's your holiday,
hope you enjoy it this time, you gave it all away
it was mine, so when you're dead and gone
will you remember this night, twenty years now lost,
it's not right.

Their anger hurts my ears, been running strong for seven years
Rather then fix the problems, they never solve them, it makes no sense at all
I see them everyday, we get along so why can't they?
If this is what he wants, and it's what she wants, then why is there so much pain?

So here's your holiday,
hope you enjoy it this time, you gave it all away.
it was mine, so when you're dead and gone
will you remember this night, twenty years now lost,
it's not right.

So here's your holiday,
hope you enjoy it this time, you gave it all away.
It was mine, so when your dead and gone,
will you remember this night, twenty years now lost?
it's not right
it's not right
it's not right
it's not right

My parents deffinately need to listen to this they were married for 25 years and it was alll perfect till my dads first son from his ex wife died ( before I was born ) and now they fight all the time it's completely one sided dad always wins I hate it. Neither of them are happy together but now they're separated and they miss each other it's stupid.

I am really in love with these lyrics.
My parents fight all the time and I just can't freaking stand it anymore!!!
All of my friends parents are divorced and still they seem so much more happy then I and brother.
It's just so pathetic..
My dad knows that a divorce is coming and so he just pretends to be sick and sleep all day..

Anyways I'm gonna stop whining ; I'm just saying that staying together for the kids might seem like a good idea, but really it only makes it worse. PLEASE BREAK UP I CAN'T STAND IT !!!

This song makes me want to bitch | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/20/10

What I hate is how one sided all the arguments are in my house. It's always my mom blowing up at something small. She'll go crazy, yell and scream and get violent, and then she gets incredibly depressed and lies in her room for days. But my dad is too clueless to do anything, like he has early Alzheimers or something. He always fucks up. Ever since i was 6, the only talking has been arguments... and i can't get mad at my mom because she really only has me and she couldn't take it. And my dad already has her getting mad at him constantly. So all I can do is watch and watch and watch all the stupid shit. My parents would be better off divorced. My life would actually be less dysfunctional... thats fucked up. And the sad part is my mom is so fun when she isn't mad. It sucks. Not sure why im typing all this since no one gives a shit, but its not like i can say this in real life and the song made me think. and the internet is anonymous... so bitching over

Always a blink fan | Reviewer: Barnesey | 2/11/10

This song has touched me. My parents have been divorced for 8 years, and I listened to this song when I was 8 ( when they split) and have loved it since. My girlfriends family is going through a split right now, so I think of them when I hear it. Most definitely my anthem.

Blink 182. | Reviewer: AtMikeMarron | 9/18/09

I saw Blink 182 last night and they said this song was about them. I took another listen and it made a lot of sense to me. They actually wrote that song about them breaking up. Stay together for the kids. Us, the fans, being the kids. That's the way I see it. And I also like that it's so easy to relate to in other things in life. Much love, everyone!

i listened to this song in 8th grade when my parents were going through a divorce. i felt like every word in this song was written for my specific situation, and it really hit me how much i was actually hurting about everything because i had become so numb to all the fighting and bitterness before. my parents didnt go through with it which i guess is a good thing but blink definitly hit the nail on the head when it comes to teenagers going through a divorce. i love how they make us feel like we have a voice when no one else does, and they let us know that it is hard to be a kid and we arent alone. hooray for the blink :)

touching song! | Reviewer: ellen | 12/14/08

this has to be one of the best and one of my FAVOURITE blink 182 songs.
my mother ran away to america 3years ago and i havent seen her since and only heard her voice once.
i wish parents would listen to this song to see how it effects their children.

i wish blink 182 would get back together,
and i wish all the best to Travis Baker after his plane crash.

this song pretty much describs everything about my household in just a few words. this song makes it its pure; my parents have never cared and probably never will im the only sane one and this song pretty much intails that, in just a few short words.

I can relate to this song bcuz im going through the same thing. Im 17 and my parents are getting divorced. For 2 years we've been living in a lie in a pathetic house with screaming and cheating.
This song is very powerful.....

STFU I love this song. | Reviewer: Jojo | 2/4/08

For Moto; When they said "We get along so why can't they?", it means... okay, I'll use small words, you might not get it, okay?

The word we = means the children and the parents.
The words they = the parents.

Means, the children or the child and the father/mother get along, got it? The mother and the father don't. Understand? Hope you do. The child is asking that question. Means, he/she can't understand why. The song is like, in the child's point of view. Use your head once in a while okay? (:
