Staple It Together Lyrics - Jack Johnson

Review The Song (9)

Its really
Too bad
He became a prisoner of his own past
He stabbed the moment in the back
With the round thumbtack
That held up the list of things he gotta do
Its really,
No good
He's moving on before he understood
He shot the future in the foot with every step he took
From the places that he's been cause he forgot to look

Better staple it together and call it bad weather
Staple it together and call it bad weather X3
Mm hmm

Well I guess you could say
That he dont even know where to begin
Cause he looked both ways but he was so afraid
Digging deep into the ditch
With every chance he missed
And the mess he made
Cause hate is such a strong word
And every brick he laid
A mistake they say
That his walls are getting taller
His world is getting smaller

Better staple it together and call it bad weather
Staple it together and call it bad weather X3
Mm hmm

Whoo

Its really
Too bad
He became a prisoner of his own past
He stabbed a moment in the back
With the round thumbtack
That held up the list of things he gotta do
Its really,
No good
Hes moving on before he understood
He shot the future in the foot with every step he took
From the places that he's been cause he forgot to look

Better staple it together and call it bad weather
Staple it together and call it bad weather X3

If the weather is better
We should get together
Spend a little time and we can do whatever
And if we get together we'll be twice as clever
So, staple it together and call it bad weather, mm hmmm

guys, this song is about Former President Bush...listen to the lyrics. Jack Johnson has spoken about his dislike for Bush. If you listen to this song with that in mind it will change the song. Also, listen to Sexy Plexi, you will hear JJ echo similar sentiments in that song.

This song shows me how many of the people around me are always trying to push through and get to the goal. Weather the goal is money, girls, power, it doesn't seem to matter. if you have a 'to do' list its great, it gives you something to strive for and often achieve. When he stabs the moment in the back, it really is saying how humanity has stabbed ourselves by making this list of things to do, like its a bad thing. the journey up the mountain is what makes you happy, the top is just an opinion. Enjoy the moment dont work throught it and its easy to be happy, and its easy to just become happy. And if your stuck in the past like many are you just have to take your past staple all of the bad together and call it bad wheather, something you cannot control but can predict and prepare for, but its as easy as that to be happy. Just staple the bad together and forgive, let it all go.

once you have done so, you can really find yourself in these moments, come on over and and make some moments, we can even be cleaver enough to communicate this way of life to more people

thus the statement being twice as cleaver, the more people who can see this way, the more this lifestyle echos on in eternity.

jack Johnson, he sees more than meets our eye, and can also put it together so cleaver that it can be positively impressionable on many of the situations that people have stated before myself

great song// i relate to this song! =) | Reviewer: sbones | 2/5/08

I love it when people can relate to lyrics and songs. I agree with the anonymous viewer that said (s)he needed to change. I need to change too!
I feel like I really relate to this song.

"It's really too bad/ He became a prisoner of his own past/ He stabbed the moment in the back with the round thumbtack/ That held up the list of things he got to do/ It's really no good
He's moving on before he understood/ He shot the future in the foot with every step he took/ From the places that he's been because he forgot to look"

^For a while, I was having a bad time and was thinking about my past and how my friends from my past were doing.
I felt like I was making my own mistakes and messing up my own future. I could keep to any "to-do" lists or schedules I made for myself.

"Well I guess you could say/ That he don't even know where to begin/ Because he looked both ways but he was so afraid/ Digging deep into the ditch every chance he missed/ And the mess he made
Because hate is such a strong word/ And every brick he laid a mistake they say/ That his walls are getting taller, and his world is getting smaller"

^Recently, I've had to make some decision, and a big factor was of mistakes I've made, messing up my own chances. These big decision had me confused and I didn't even know where to begin because I felt overwhelmed!

"He better staple it together and call it bad weather"

^This just reminds me I need to clean up everything. I'll just make do of what has happened in my past and of what I've done, and the mistakes I've made. I need to get through with my life and move on. I need to focus! :)

i totally get this and you should to... | Reviewer: Jennifer | 10/4/07

The guy kept focusing on his mistakes and wasn't learning from them. "He shot the future in the foot with every step he took"....he wasn't learning just focusing on mistakes and he "forgot to look" so that he didn't make those mistakes again....he needs to just staple it together and call it bad weather ( he needs to just put away all the mistakes and keep moving forward).

i think i get it | Reviewer: MrDutchy | 7/27/07

"staple it together and call it bad weather"

I suppose this means the guy blames the circumstances for causing the situation he found himself to be in. The rest of the song though points out it was very much due to his own mistakes: "He shot the future in the foot with every step he took"

PS: I'm a big fan as well. Jack Johnson is great!

i dont get it.. | Reviewer: xucathy2003@gmail.com | 6/21/07
