Stained Glass Masquerade Lyrics - Casting Crowns
Review The Song (39)
Is there anyone that fails
Is there anyone that falls
Am I the only one in church today feelin' so small
Cause when I take a look around
Everybody seems so strong
I know they'll soon discover
That I don't belong
So I tuck it all away, like everything's okay
If I make them all believe it, maybe I'll believe it too
So with a painted grin, I play the part again
So everyone will see me the way that I see them
Are we happy plastic people
Under shiny plastic steeples
With walls around our weakness
And smiles to hide our pain
But if the invitation's open
To every heart that has been broken
Maybe then we close the curtain
On our stained glass masquerade
Is there anyone who's been there
Are there any hands to raise
Am I the only one who's traded
In the altar for a stage
The performance is convincing
And we know every line by heart
Only when no one is watching
Can we really fall apart
But would it set me free
If I dared to let you see
The truth behind the person
That you imagine me to be
Would your arms be open
Or would you walk away
Would the love of Jesus
Be enough to make you stay
Is there anyone that falls
Am I the only one in church today feelin' so small
Cause when I take a look around
Everybody seems so strong
I know they'll soon discover
That I don't belong
So I tuck it all away, like everything's okay
If I make them all believe it, maybe I'll believe it too
So with a painted grin, I play the part again
So everyone will see me the way that I see them
Are we happy plastic people

I would love to hear a resounding yes from all I know Christian or not, but I fear there would be some somber silence from both side.. Lord Almighty, help us love each other as you have first loved us.. Amen

No matter how deep your pain us, God can heal them all. And all doors to God is open. No matter how hurt, how weak, how bad you are. And even if you are too ashamed of yourself to look at God, it doesn't matter. Because God invited everyone to his kingdom.

I am blessed. Av heard this song over and over again, but reading and knowing the lyrics has made a whole difference in the way I look @ a christian lyf. @ tyms we become plastic (esp we Christians)so as to safeguard our reputations. But its so relieving to knw that we don't have to struggle this much to protect our image. God has us on the palm of his hands. Our job is to come to him jst as we are, live life to the fullest,as long as its in obedience to His commands and be willing to listen to His voice. He'll change us inside out gradually. That way, we get to be human and our short-falls let people knw that we aren't perfect and that if we can come back from our setbacks, so can they. The Glory there4 remains to be God's @ all tyms...And that's ministry right there!

i love tis song, its so true. Everytime i go to church everyone seems so strong and it seems tat i am the only one tat is so small. In the past, i would always hide myself away and not talk to people. Now, when i open up myself, i would always feel rejection. I was always thinking would they accept me for who i am. It really hurts me but i would always smile and let them think i am alright. I would always try to be friendly to people and take the first step to talk to them. But i always feel so rejected and when you try so hard to be good friends with them but it seem so impossible, my heart always feel so broken and empty. Its only when i am alone, then i truly feel wad i truly feel.

I do hide in laughs and smiles. And when i come home, i am but an empty person. I like the song coz its simpleness will hit your right spot. Ouch! We must stop playing with life with a poker face. Whatever we feel, we should let it out. If you fall, rise up! Let's be real, be happy and do good to others all the time! Trust in Him.
What a "tiny" world we live in! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/22/09
I take something different away from this song than the typical "let's take our masks of and be real before each other".
This song helped me to realize that I had to get out from under the "Plastic Steeple" all together. The only way to get the mask off is to get out of the masquerade party and LIVE what Jesus has called us to!
Thank you Casting Crowns for bring some truth to this world! And continuing to cast your Crowns before the King of Kings.

This song has a lot of meaning in it. I think it's tellin how some people are not always what they seem. They put on a fake smile and make u believe that they're really holy when really that's just how they see u...but It's all an act so people don't see when they make mistakes, because they're afraid people will walk away from them with shame. We really need to remember that there is no such thing as perfect people and we shouldn't be ashamed to let others see when we fall, because that's what makes us human. If we didn't mess up, how would we learn to fix the mistakes that we made...God wouldn't be able to teach us if this were the case.

I think that this song speaks to a lot of people and can relate to their lives in surprising ways. I found that it did to me, and I know that the problem they're talking about in the song is very common in churches everywhere. I'm glad they wrote this song, it really helped me out.

I like this song because i think what the song is talking about is that if a person fails it's ok cause God sees our pain and he is there to heal the pain we go through. I've been through a sitaution simular to this. I was dealing with getting blamed for everything and i turned to God and asked for his help and guidance, now i thank God for helping me and healing my brokeness. Thanks for the writing of this song. May God Bless.

WOW!!!!!!
i downloaded this song because a friend told me to, but i hadn't read the lyrics, i just listened to it.
the lyrics are so good!!! and it's true!
some days we go to church and put our poker face on pretending everything's ok, when inside you feel terrible. then you look at others and see that they all look ok, but maybe they're feeling just as terrible as you are!
i think that in order to be a close congregation, we should tell eachother what's going on, instead of pretending it's ok, and accepting others for what they are, jsut like Jesus did, instead of pushing them away!
the song really opened up my heart today
(:
One Word: Amazing | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/15/09
I first heard this song on a road trip mission trip i went on with my church youth group. That day had been kinda rough on me and all the way to the church we were staying at I was crying. As i came out from the bus my friend Aaliyah knew something was wrong and she asked me what was wrong. I told her everything was ok and i put a big smile on my face. Then we had devotion time (as we did everynight) and at the start of devo we play songs. Well it just so happened that this song was one of the songs hat was being played that nite. As soon as the song was over there were tears pouring from my eyes. I just felt that the lord was speaking to me. So, i just thought I would share that with you.
God Bless You All,
Rachel
