St. Charles Lyrics - Jefferson Starship
Review The Song (8)
Let me tell you 'bout a dream,
Dream.
You know I saw her in a dream.
Oh, St. Charles sings,
Sings about love.
St. Charles, tell me tonight,
Won't you tell me 'bout love.
You know I saw her in a dream.
There was China, in her eyes,
In a silk and velvet disguise,
She was movin' like a lady,
Lookin' like a dragon princess.
She was walkin',
walkin' by the river,
rollin' in a rhythm of love.
I never felt like this before;
I'll never stop, I just want more.
Oh, St. Charles sings,
Sings about love.
St. Charles, tell me tonight,
Won't you tell me 'bout love.
You know I saw her in a dream.
I was shang-hied by her way,
Hypnotized by the things she would say,
In the moonlight on the water,
We were like lovers in another lifetime.
Woh, is it only a vision?
Ah, it feels like a prison,
Just the spell of a demon and I can't get away.
Oh, St. Charles sings,
Sings about love.
St. Charles, tell me tonight,
Won't you tell me 'bout love.
Please tell me 'bout love.
I saw her in a dream.
Please tell me 'bout love.
I know I saw her in a dream....
Dream....
Let me take you,
To another place,
Another time,
Another world of people, dancin' in rhyme,
Dance in the air, six-fingered webbed,
Fair as the air.
She is the storm bringer, yeh.
The storm changer. yeh.
Tie, yourself down to the main mast.
Tie, yourself down to the main mast.
Like Ulysses in the water storm,
Winds comin' down the main line.
Tie, yourself down to the main mast,
Tie it down with love.
Tie it down with love.
Don't you feel it, stormin'?
I feel it coming, stormin'.
I can feel it now, stormin',
Don't you feel it comin', stormin'?
Arhhhhhh....
stormin'
stormin'

Great St. Charles story from back in the day... | Reviewer: VILESHUND TADA | 12/24/12
It's such a great feeling to know there are others to whom this music meant so much...For a funny, heart warming story that might bring you right back to those days, please go to the youtube St. Charles and find comments...was there anyone else who discovered the secret of the Spitfire album cover illustration as Jimmy and I did that summer afternoon?...
Takes me back to a better time.. | Reviewer: Enrico | 7/29/12
Loved this song . Came out about the time of my first real crush named Karla.Would listen to this song at night through those big headphones everybody had during the 70's and think about her. I was hopelessly in love. Havent seen her since high school but I hear this song and I think of what could have been. Wow..
All time favorite | Reviewer: moondawg | 7/25/12
This has got to be one of the most all time greatest songs by the Jefferson Starship and takes me back to a time in my younger days every time I here it. Heard it for the first time when I was in Memphis and it just stuck in my head until I could come back home and buy the album. Beautiful song......
Excellent Song | Reviewer: Mrs GULCH | 7/11/12
The song is from Spitfire...not from Red Octopus...Yes...an FM song in the day. I love old Airplane as well as I am old too. I think the Balin years of Starship were great too and the addition of Chaquico didn't hurt a bit. An ethereal sound this song has. First heard it on the radio...then bought the album. Not a thing wrong with this tune :-)
A different take... | Reviewer: John | 1/6/12
I remember very well when this song was an FM hit of sorts. I think it was on Red Octopus. At that time, I had been in love for a long time with Jefferson Airplane, and this new reincarnation made me so depressed. The old Jefferson Airplane music still sounds fresh and authentic, but to me, this is boring and totally forgettable.
unbelivable!! | Reviewer: chris | 4/25/11
you have got to be kidding---this is incredible! marty balin sings a love song( which he does better than anyone on earth, grace wails in the background( which she did better than anyone on earth), a young craig chacico just goin to town on those sols,,damnnnnnnnn,,,this is top 100 of my all time stuff---
Pay attention to your Dreams. | Reviewer: Flipper 56 | 8/21/10
Shake off that cynicism! It is a beautiful song about reincarnation, mythology and the promise of eternal life. A tribute to the human spirit and the evolution of mankind. It's not going to be easy but one can weather the storm.....
St.Charles the anthem of my youth | Reviewer: moonchil | 1/8/08
Will always remind me of my first love Christine who I haven't seen since 1977.
Still get chills down my spine, still get a tear in my eye when I listen to it even now.
A song of my youth before the world turned me into a cynical old fool.
Classic song from a classic album by a classic band.
