The story of Squirtgun began in the fall of 1993. Punk rock producer and bassist extraordinaire Mass Giorgini decided to form a new band around the remains of his previous band, Rattail Grenadier. Two more former Rattail members were recruited, Mass' brother guitarist Flav Giorgini and drummer Dan Lumley. The picture was completed with longtime friend singer/guitarist Matt Hart, formerly of Freaks of Nature. In the spring of 1995, the band recorded their debut EP "Shenanigans" for Lookout! Records. The debut full-length "Squirtgun" was released in the Fall of 1995. A song from this album, "Social", was featured in the movie "Mallrats" during the opening credits. In the Fall of 1995, Zac Damon, formerly of Zoinks!, began touring with Squirtgun on guitar and vocals. Squirtgun's second EP "Mary Ann", an homage to Mary Ann from Gilligan's Island, was released in the Fall of 1996. That fall Squirtgun filmed a video for "Mary Ann" which included a cameo by Dawn Wells, the original Mary Ann. This video was shown several times on MTV and MTV2. Squirtgun's second record, "Another Sunny Afternoon" was released in the spring of 1997. In 1998, two Squirtgun songs, "You're the Greatest" and "Come On Let's Go" were featured in the TV series "Clueless".In August of 1999, the punk rock documentary "Release" was released, containing interviews with and live footage of Squirtgun. In the spring of 2000, the Squirtgun song "Come On Let's Go" was featured in the MGM movie "The Extreme Adventures of Super Dave". Squirtgun has been busy in 2001 and 2002 working on songs for a new record, as well as with many other projects. Zac is heading his own band, Big In Japan, on Honest Don's Records, and will be a special guest on the upcoming Squirtgun album. Mass and Dan have been working with Screeching Weasel, The Mopes, and Common Rider. Flav is heading his own band, the Simians.
