You make me lose my buttons oh yeah you make me spit
I don’t like my clothes anymore
We’re spending time and money yeah you’re colder than yourself
Now we’re moving now we’re taking control
You make me lose my buttons oh yeah you make me spit
I don’t like my clothes anymore
You take me to New Orleans yeah you put me to the test
I know what my heart is for
You reach out for a blanket I say girl you’ve got something
I love how you wear it
Now we’re spending time and money yeah you’re colder than yourself
Now we’re moving now we’re taking control
Love will get you down!
My love's a laboratory
I set all my pets free
So baby you should sleep with me
I make trips to the bathroom
and my friends dont have true grit
I am speckled like a leopard
Put a lid on Shirley Temple
Yeah you make sleek kills
Yeah you travel you travel
You park me in your buick
You sing songs into my lips
Well i am speckled like a leopard
Just like a leopard
Trust will get you down
I love the way
You put me in the big house
I love the way
You put me in the big house
If I get there early will it be the right time?
Our heaven is just waiting so put your hand into mine
If I get too surly will you take that in stride?
our boat is just there waiting so put your little hand in mine
And speak when you’re spoken of
Catch up on your sleep girl
When you wear that body glove
You’re acting on initiative
And you’re spelling out your love
You shouldn’t be alone in there
You could be above ground
All i want is to be the very best for you
All i want is to do the very best by you
Oh this time
There'll be no life of crime
Don't rain on me tonight
Circle around me now baby it’ll be ok
Cause we all go downtown sometimes
Somehow baby we’ll beat this mess
It’s the time fuck the surface to meet the specialist
Time away from me
Will get you down
I love the way you put me in the big house
I love the way you put me in the big house
If I get there early will it be the right time?
Our heaven is just waiting
So put your hand into mine
If I get too surly will you take that in stride?
Our boat is just there waiting
So put your little hand in mine
And speak when you’re spoken of
Catch up on your sleep
When you wear that body glove
You’re acting uninitiative
And you’re spelling out your love
You shouldn’t be alone in there
You could be above ground
If you're frustrated then go
If you're frustrated then go
Honey bee, you should be through with this,
your packaged eyes, your vicious lips,
You could be young, but you're out of touch
If this love's been done, then what's your rush?

Review about Specialist Sheer Perfection! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/29/09
This song stands alone as the first class ship so to speak of Paul banks obsession with the sea and Ambiguity. you can really taste the barrio of investigation in the riff that starts to play a few bars after the bass line engulfs the song. My favorite line of lyrics is at the end when Paul sort of begins to mumble the lyrics: ("Honey bee, you should be through with this,
your packaged eyes, your vicious lips,
You could be young, but you're out of touch
If this love's been done, then what's your rush?") it mirrors the same tone he uses in the hidden lyrics to Stella was a diver where he says: ("She lies in nowhere, She lies in no place, She lies")
I would have to say that out of all the songs where Paul refers to the sea: "Take you on a cruise" "Public Pervert" "A time to be small" "Stella was a diver" "Specialist" takes the cake for Ambiguity! Interpol Stands Alone as my all time favorite band!!
Involving and Evolving. | Reviewer: Tommy D | 5/25/09
I never realized this before, but I think this song is referring to Stella the Diver. The lines about the body glove and being above ground point to it in my opinion. The thing I love about Interpol is that I always notice new things in their songs... it never gets old but only gets better with each listen.
Just exellent. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/8/08
this lyrics is really a mirrorimage of an relationship between me and this special girl. the song describes me perfect, and just blends in with this whole thing, it makes me burst in tears. Interpol is great, this one, say hello to the angels and obstackle 1 are current favourites (:

i absolutely adore this song. i always get goose bumps when the second verse begins.
i think the best lines are "time away from me will get you down", "i know what my heart is for", "i say girl you've got something i love how you wear it", "you're spelling out your love" and "you sing songs into my lips". i think they're all so packed with intense emotions. i think the line "i love the way you put me in the big house" is so agonizing and tormenting that whenever i listen to it i feel as if i'm being stabbed in the heart.
i love this song, i listened to it on repeat for 6 hours straight when i was travelling by car to the seaside. i couldn't wait for the night to come so that i could burst into tears.
OK, i'll admit, i first heard this on the oc. then downloaded it, and appreicated it to its bare bones. Its bloody amazing. That dark voice and lyrics creepily hidden by loud riffs make this song perfect.
Now i sound like some weird music (or art) critic or something.
Awesome. 5 outta 5.
This should win an award..... | Reviewer: Nicole Hylan | 11/20/07
Specialist has to have the best opening line of a song ever.
Paul Banks sounds as surly as his lyrics - and you can only totally love or totally hate that voice!
love is such an awful thing to lose... | Reviewer: savory | 11/9/07
Beautiful song that offer an emotional and mindful feel unlike others dull songs which are only about still the same chorus. My rating ***** of 5. Its like a story (in short)
This song is seriously a work of art. My goodness, what a masterpeice. Totally unlike anything I've ever heard. Definatly one of my favorite songs...ever. These guys are killer.

What a song. Heard this particular track a while back and wasn't fortunate enough to hear 'Turn On the Bright Lights', until recently. The newer material aka OLTA, almost seem to drag me in. One of the bands around at the moment that has everything. Narc, NYC, The New and Mammoth are all highly recommended, as is the track above. Next album should put them up there with the big boys!
God, what a sexy song. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/13/07
This song is absolutely brilliant. Possibly my favourite of Interpol's, though trying to pick a favourite is pretty impossible.
