Special Needs Lyrics - Placebo

Review The Song (15)

Remember me when you're the one who's silver screened
Remember me when you're the one you always dreamed
Remember me whenever noses start to bleed
Remember me special needs

Just 19 and sucker's dream
I guess I thought you had the flavor
Just 19 and dream obscene
With six months off for bad behavior

Remember me when you clinch your movie deal
Think of me stuck in my chair that has four wheels
Remember me through flash photography and screams
Remember me special dreams

Just 19 this sucker's dream
I guess I thought you had the flavor
Just 19 and dream obscene
With six months off for bad behavior
Just 19 and sucker's dream
I guess I thought you had the flavor
Just 19 and dream obscene
With six months off for bad behavior

Remember me...

Just 19 this sucker's dream
I guess I thought you had the flavor
Just 19 and dream obscene
With six months off for bad behavior
Just 19 and sucker's dream
I guess I thought you had the flavor
Just 19 and dream obscene
With six months off for bad behavior

Remember me...

meaning of the song | Reviewer: Pierrotth | 4/4/11

If I heard one more time that an placebo song it's about drugs I'm gonna go crazy! This song it's about 2 young lovers, and the boy after many years asks he's ex girlfriend to remember him. Everywhere in the song the boy asks to remeber him: "Remember me when you clinch your movie deal" this probably was the thing that made the two lovers to broke up. "Think of me stuck in my chair that has four wheels" I don't think that this lyric means that he had an accident; i think that lyric is an expression referring that she leaved him suffering while she singed a movie deal. If you watch the video-clip you can see that the 19 boy is not in a 4 wheel chair. The lyric: "With six months off for bad behavior" reefers that the boy was ready to change for her and he change for 6 months, probably the time of the relationship. And the lyric: "Just 19 and dream obscene" refers to the pervert mind of a young boy; something pretty normal to a 19 years old boy who has a girlfriend.
P.s In the first stanza i think the things are pretty clear and i agree with the "Reviewer: cho cho | 2/27/10"

about the lyrics | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/24/11

I think the person in that song is 19 tries out all available drugs (6 months off for bad behaviour) and gets stuck with cocaine, hence the reference to the "nosebleeds".

'Just 19 a sucker's dream' says he's dreaming about becoming popular and 'I guess I thought you had the flavour' is again a clear reference to drugs.

So he just talks in his mind to another person and tells them to remember him when they made it big. Because he was afraid he wouldn't succeed. Plus he might have been afraid that he would get stuck in a 'wheelchair' (picture for all kinds of ailments he might get and which might make him become a person with special needs) if he didn't manage to controle his drug abuse.

And I don't think the term "special needs" in that case refers to bodily needs but to personal issues (maybe depression, borderline bipolar disorder or something along those lines).

To me it's a terribly sad song but not about love to another person.

confusing | Reviewer: plagday | 9/4/10

i think that this is the story about someone who's been doing drugs and then later the person really regrets for doing it. like," i was only 19 and stupid, i thought that it will be good, but it ended up ruining my life."

what i think | Reviewer: cho cho | 2/27/10

i thought it was a simple love story...
like he liked this girl ever since child hood the "nose bleeds" and she was the one he always dreamed
then they got older watched some movies and hes old now in his wheelchair and flash photography and screems reminising his love they shared?
or would have shared as its all a dream just 19 suckers dream.. so this is what he wanted for her to be with him forever.. but shes a slut whore and didnt want to stay hahah!

My take | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/27/10

"Nosebleeds" refers to "nosebleed seats" or when someone is famous or skyrockets up to fame very quickly. Google it for the wiki definition.

Its about a couple falling deeply in love, she's an aspiring actress and he's the star athlete.
But 6 months in, the man is in an accident that leaves him in a wheelchair. Dream obscene - went from beautiful, to the worst nightmare.

The song is actually very selfish because the lyrics are from him to her, after she left him to become famous. He watches her on TV while sitting alone in a room as empty as his hopes.

Its tragic all the way around - she actually makes it famous because she felt guilty inside about leaving him and seeks out attention/approval from other people even harder in order to try and make that guilt deep inside go away.

But no amount of fame or money, noting anyone tells her can take away the sadness she feels for him, and that damn nagging guilt that just wont go away.

im not gonna pretend i know what this song is about. but from the lyrics it looks like he is in love with a girl who has a lot of potential and hes just some drop kick whos into drugs. he just got with her cause shes hot but ends up falling for her. in the end it doesnt work out and she goes onto better things and hes stuck. i dont know though, just another love song...

i like the cocaine idea better cos that explains the nosebleeds but i originally thought it was a bout someone who is trapped in a wheel chair whilst the person responsible is off living their dream and succeeding. this person in the wheel chair has to watch them on tv's because since they are famous, they are really punished for it. meh. jst my interpretation.

What I thought | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/9/09

I really thougt it talked about a car accident... I mean, someone was driving and the one by his side is the singer telling the driver to remember him and what has he done....I don't know, it really seemed to me! LOL

ABOUT THE LYRIC, THE THRUTH HISTORY | Reviewer: Vero | 12/12/08

LOL, you're all wrong folks, this song is about a woman who he felt in love and she lived in the same street has him. Also she helped Brian to quit using drugs in 2003 after an overdose. She was the responsable for his change. The kid in the lyric is a refering to him :)

About song. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/28/08

I'm pretty sure this song is about a kid with special needs. Someone close to them is achieving their dream of becoming a famous movie actor/actress. The kid always believed in them but still wants to be remembered (obviously).
