Sonny James, the Southern Gentleman, used the popular
Nashville sound of the '60s to countrify pop hits of the
past into a form accessible to many, broadening country
music's appeal across the nation.
Sonny James even moved over to the pop charts for a time in
the late '50s, but he found the secret of his success by
the time he returned to the country. During the late '60s,
he scored an incredible five - year run of number - one
singles which locked up the top spot for a combined 45
weeks during the late '60s.
Born James Loden on May 1, 1929, he began performing with
his show - business family at the age of three and played

teens. The group appeared around the South and on radio
shows like the Louisiana H More...
Review about Sonny James Thanks For The Memories | Reviewer: Lee Ann Harper
------ About the song Shina No Yoru performed by Sonny James
I've been looking for these lyrics for years! I was just a kid when my brother brought back a record called China Night from the Korean War. I learned the song phonetically but never saw the words in print. I remembered the beautiful melody and the woman's voice perfectly all these years, and often sing it to myself around the house, imitating her exactly. It's wonderful to finally see the lyrics.

------ About the song She's In 4-11 performed by Sonny James
Hours pass,lights flash,she's in 411.
Words I said in anger,words I didn't mean,
caused my love in anger, to cry and run from me,
she was stuck down by a car,I've been here since
seven, walking up and down these halls, she's in 411. Hours pass, lights flash, nurses come and go,
please God,help her,for I love her so, she is all I want on earth, all I want in Heaven, let her live, to forgive, she's in 411. I can't say I'm sorry, visitors not allowed, time can move so slowly, waiting in a crowd,if she lives till break of day, they say hope is given, meanwhile I can walk and pray, she's in 411.
We took the, back door to Heaven, back door to heaven, two well meaning friends who never ment to care,oh yes we,walked into Heaven, walked right in to Heaven, when heavenly love caught our hearts, unaware.
You lost your love I did to,we were sad and blue,I set out to comfort you, hold your hand and see you through, when you'd cry then i'd be gay, like some silly clown you'd say,I could make you laugh this way,we grew closer day by day.
We took the back door to heaven, back door to heaven, two well meaning friends who never ment to care,oh yes we, walked into heaven, walked right into heaven, when heavenly love caught our hearts, unaware, when heavenly love taught our hearts, how to care.
MOST IMPRESSIVE MEMORY OF JAPAN | Reviewer: LESTER GARVER
------ About the song Shina No Yoru performed by Sonny James
I shall never ever forget the words and music of Shina no Yoro. Even if you don't understand Japanese, they sound wonderful and sensuous. The GI's in Korea in 1954-55 all seemed to know of the song. Dozens would play the song on harmonicas. In Japan, it seemed to be the number one hit in all the land, well, at least in Tokyo and Yokohama. I wish our radio stations would play the song still today. O' China Nights Shina no yoro, ah what memories they bring back. In the midst of war, the song brought peaceful feelings.
