Cause it's a bitter sweet symphony this life...
Trying to make ends meet, you're a slave to the money then you die.
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down...
You know the one that takes you to the places where all the veins meet, yeah.
No change, I can't change, I can't change, I can't change,
but I'm here in my mold, I am here in my mold.
But I'm a million different people from one day to the next...
I can't change my mold, no,no,no,no,no,no,no
Well I've never prayed,
But tonight I'm on my knees, yeah.
I need to hear some sounds that recognize the pain in me, yeah.
I let the melody shine, let it cleanse my mind, I feel free now.
But the airwaves are clean and there's nobody singing to me now.
No change, I can't change, I can't change, I can't change,
but I'm here in my mold, I am here in my mold.
And I'm a million different people from one day to the next
I can't change my mold, no,no,no,no,no
Have you ever been down?
I can't change, I can't change...
Cause it's a bittersweet symphony this life.
Trying to make ends meet, trying to find somebody then you die.
You know I can't change, I can't change, I can't change, I can't change
but I'm here in my mold, I am here in my mold.
And I'm a million different people from one day to the next.
///I can't change my mold, no,no,no,no,no///

this song expresses frustration, melody, love and life. This bittersweet symphony is a visious cycle. You slave to money then you die. It writes the fabric of Western world life. Its beautiful. Thank god we have this art to listen to!

I looved this songs..
Why dida sed that? Couz this songs tells us bout our damn routine in world, that we'll alwys woke atda sametime evry single day of ourlives, got da same traf.jams/problms in life, gettin dyin of workin (slavin) in da name of (damned) money... Tryin to meet our needs for life, which chronically turned into a mold of ourlives..
Which we cant changed!!!
And differs from one to other in millions of peoples!!
BUT WE'VE GOT TO STAND UP My Frenz !!!
Dont let routinity molded us, but we're da one who mold our routine! Yeah!!

my mum loves this song so much that she wants to hear it all over again and again.Because of her influence I started listening.I like the song really but at the end its kinda boring.Maybe a new little faster version and with a unboring end would be better to me.Everything else is perfect about the verve
This is the one song that touches my soul. | Reviewer: Bethany | 3/7/09
This song grabs you from it's haunting opening, and holds you throughout. I have listened to it so many times and it never gets old. I have manic depression and if ever there were a song to express how frustatingly complex my world is, it's this one. I love so many types of music, but this song belongs in a class by itself. This song is a rarity, that has never received the acclaim it deserves.
This song is something different. It's beautiful. You know how at times you can listen to songs and love them but once you change your mood you start to listen to them but they just don't fit and you have to turn them off?? Well this is the only song i've ever heard that never makes me feel that way.
When I think of this song, I think of teenagers waking up in the morning and getting dressed as usual. While getting ready, they are mouthing the words to the song. They then leave their house with their bags as if they were walking to school. As they are walking, they appear together on the same road. As the song nears the end, the road splits up and all the teenagers hug and say goodbye to each other as they each go on different paths.
The paths to me, is their futures as all people have different goals and destinations, but we are all walking on this road called 'life'.

quite simply the greatest single pop / rock / blues song ever written. its almost impossible to imagine a better example of a songwriters ability to express human emotion in a more meaningful way.
I liked it back in the 1960's when it was performed by the Andrew Loog Oldham Orchestra, only at that time it was called "The Last Time" and it was written by the Rolling Stones. Exactly the same song, but without Ashcroft's lyrics.
