Sonata Arctica was born in 1996 on the edge of the world, in northern Finish town of Kemi. The very first incarnation of the band was named Tricky Beans. As Tricky Beans, the group produced three demos (Friend till the End, Agre Pamppers and PeaceMaker) and played twice in Jyrki S鋒k鰏 irkus. After some personnel changes in 1997, the outfit changed their name to Tricky Means. Let it be know to the Metal community that initially the band experimented in musical styles far from heavy metal. Turning the page in 1999, Tricky Means recorded new demo "FullMoon" in Tico Tico Studios located in their hometown, Kemi. At the time of recording the line-up consisted of: Tony (vocals/keys), Jani (guitars), Tommy (drums), and Janne (bass). This new demo was the first exploration More... We used to listen this song often together, sometimes with repeat many hours. I just can imagine the cold winter night. The time we were standing on a road and not willing to leave the place. Her touch. The first kiss with her. I loved her so much, oh god help how much I loved her. And I still do, who am I fooling. She gave me a birthday card with written the chorus of the song "If you fall ill catch, if you love ill love..."... But after all she turned her cold side on me, we no longer spent countless hours just lying on a bed and being together just. So we broke up... I remember watching the video on their website and just sitting there with my mouth open. They're one of my favourite bands EVER. But I haven't been able to see them live yet. A friend told me that they have enormous stage presence. I firts found out about them from a free DVD with the Don't Say A Word video on it that came with the Metal Hammer magazine.
