If I was a simple man,
Would we still walk hand in hand?
If I suddenly went blind,
Would you still look in my eyes?
What happens when I grow old?
And all my stories have been told?
Will your heart still race for me?
Or will it march to a new beat?
If I was a simple man
If I was a simple man,
I’d own no home, I’d own no land
Would you still stand by my side?
And would our flame still burn so bright?
Sometimes I wonder why,
I’m so full of these endless rhymes
About the way I feel inside
I wish I could just get it right
If I was a simple man
And I could make you understand
There’d be no reason to think twice
You’d be my sun; you’d be my light
If I was a simple man…
No I'm not a simple man...
If I was a simple man…
But I am not a simple man...
Sometimes I wonder why
I’m so full of these endless rhymes
About the way I feel inside
I wish…
Sometimes… (x 18)

This song is so beautiful and so depressing at the same time, I like how the synth orchestra is really subtle at first but then becomes very powerful later on. And his voice is amazing. A great way to end an excellent album. Can genuinely say I cried the first few times I heard it without feeling gay.
It's beauty speaks to me... | Reviewer: Amaryllis | 7/3/09
Regardless of how many times I listen to his music, it still has a way of captivating me. It stops time and space, making only the song, the lyrics, the melody matter and nothing else. He let's me get lost in his voice. This song, as well as his others, always finds a way to do that to me. They simply speak, and so delicately demand an audience. Who are we to deny that? Oh well. But I digress. Overall, Mr. Green has a way of making you fall in love with his voice, poetry, and melody without ever even trying. And that's a true gift.

he has an amazing voice an amazing gift, he can lift anyone up so high they would have to look down to see heaven, the things he can do with just one intrument and his voice is something rare, the emotion he sings with is amazing, you can tell he really is passionate with his work
a beautiful sadness | Reviewer: Brian | 12/18/08
I think D's music makes sadness beautiful, despite the pain sadness brings. It's like he can feel it, and hold it, and then put it down in words and music so you can see it and feel the beauty in the pain. But then again that's just my personal opinion.
A tough time... | Reviewer: Jon | 2/11/08
This song is truly amazing. And like so many people believe, a break-up song. On the other hand it is a song that solidifies a couples future as well. This is the most beautifully composed song with his voice and musical talent combining to form a work of art. Absolutely stunning, this song is something I listen to daily as I make my way through my breakup.
I love Dallas Green, his music is hauntingly beautiful, it can make a bad day brighter. I was obssessed with this song for about a month, haha.
woo for Dallas!<3
Wicked. Totally Badass. Dallas Green is an amazing guitarist and a just as an amazing singer. Sure, some people can sing -- but Dallas has a genuinely beautiful voice.
